Whether you heard about it on the news or experienced it yourself, it is obvious Facebook has went under some extreme changes. The layout of the very popular site has upgraded things like the News Feed, Chat, and Notification System. With all these major changes, many Facebook users have gotten frustrated. I went around the high school and asked students at random if they liked the new Facebook or not. Chelsey Gallup, a Wilmington Police Officer, said that their main concern was to make sure everyone was safe, as well. Their part after the storm was responding to emergencies around the area, which was a challenge because most of the roads were closed. They also assisted traffic with road issues and detours around storm related hazards as well as being first responders in emergency situations. The police department lost their home base and everything in it, and are now residing in a new building [the old Rite Aid] which may become their permanent new station. It's smaller then before but they seem to be adapting to it well. "The town really came together, neighbors helping neighbors." Chelsey states. "The department did the best they could." On Tuesday October 4th, the new bell system was put into place at TVHS. Mr. Morse had been talking about a bell system, but we didn’t know when and if it would happen. No one really thought anything of it. Now that there is a bell system, I weighed in on what the students and teachers had to say about it. “ I hate them! They stink!” one person said. Another said "Well, they are pretty annoying, I would rather them be like one or two beeps instead of a lot because we really don’t need that many beeps for a bell, seriously.” The last student I asked said, “ These bells should be one in the beginning on the day and one at the end of the day. It’s just too distracting in class when you’re trying to focus and a long and loud bell goes off. We know the times well enough to know when to enter and leave class.” The students are not reacting well to the bells. “The old school I taught at had a bell system.” Mrs. Knapp, the new foreign language teacher, said. “The first few weeks here, it was very strange not to have one, I was wondering whether kids would actually go where they’re supposed to." she said with a chuckle, “ But now that it has been put in to effect I am very glad to have it back, plus the sound of the

bell isn’t really even a bell, but a pretty sound.” I asked Mr. Hayford his thoughts, “The bells are much better. There are no grey areas. The kids know when to enter and leave class, and I know when they're tardy.” I asked Mr. Moriarty, who has also been here at TVHS for a while. “I’m undecided about these bells, to tell you the truth, it’s too early to tell.” Most of the teachers seem to like the bells. The teachers like the bells, and the students... well, not so much. A possible follow up on this story is to see if the students adapt to the bells, or see if they rise up with flaming torches and pitch forks against them.

Twin Valley’s New Bell System; Good

or Bad?

Are you interested in joining Student Council? Do you even know what it is? I recently interviewed chairperson of Student Council, Bit Aekus, to get information about Student Council. “Student Council is where kids have a say in what happens in the school,” Bit states. “We try to bring school spirit back into the school. We approach or review school rules that kids want to change for whatever reason to improve the school. Sometimes if it’s a good idea, we get a change in the rule.” Every month there is something called a Wildcat Cup Challenge, Student Council is responsible for the planning of that. Besides the Wildcat Challenges, they set up the school blood drive, Green Up day, food pantry drive, and

other community supportive activities. This year Student Council is entertaining the idea of a homecoming for next basketball season or possibly next spring. Originally homecoming was planned for this past fall but due to the damage of Irene, it was postponed.Last Friday we had a dodge ball tournament during assembly. Even though the senior class ended up winning, the whole game demonstrated a good example of the school spirit we are capable of. Activities like this that get the whole school involved with is what we need to improve our spirit levels. If you want to help gain school spirit or make any reasonable changes in the school then show up to the next Student Council meeting during extended lunch or talk to Mr. Nicol. Anyone is more than welcome to join.

Advice Column

Dear Bo Trust, The other day I was caught texting my best friends boyfriend and there was some flirting involved. Some how the word got out and now everyone hates me and are calling me names. Even the guy won’t speak to me anymore. What should I do? From, Hated In The Halls

Dear Hated, Ya’ll shouldn’t been flirtin with your bestfrien’s boyfriend in the first place. If I were her, I wouldn’t be talking to you neither. If she meant so much to ya, why would ya’ll go behind the girls back like that? If ya’ll do end up being friends again she aint gonna be trustin you for a while. Ya’ll gonna have to work your way back up. Maybe start by writin a letter? Tell her you’re sorry and you realized you was being trashy. Don’t go talkin’ to her guy again or she’s gonna think you got a thing for him still. As for everyone who’s callin ya names… don’t listen to em’. If that’s all they got to talk ‘bout then they aint got no life or have some obsession with ya’ll and are tryin’ to be bigger than everyone else. Sooner or later, if ya show em’ it don’t bother ya’ll, they’ll give up and move on. Everyone makes mistakes darlin, they got no right to point yours out. Just keep ya head up high. Expect the worst, hope for the best and pray things will get better. Sincerely, Bo Trust
