n August 25, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed the Organic Act, creating

the National Park Service for the purpose of conserving the scenery, historic

objects and wildlife within our national parks. This year, Americas National Park

Service will celebrate its centennial birthday.

Montana is privileged to have two of the most spectacular national parks in the country.

Glacier National Park is located in the northwest corner of the state, where it hugs

the Canadian border and displays a spectacular jagged spine made up of the Rocky

Mountains. If you havent experienced this national treasure, we encourage you to

take one of our helicopter excursions to the park. The mammoth Yellowstone National

Park sprawls out over nearly 3,500 square miles in the southeast corner of Montana

and is highlighted by eye-popping peaks, mighty waterfalls and abundant fauna.

As we take this year to pay homage to these natural wonders, we cant help but t o

reflect upon our own property and all it has to offer. Little has changed since the

Blackfoot Indians roamed this territory centuries ago. As stewards of the land, we

have taken the responsibility of preservation and conservation very seriously. Instead

of building a looming lodge that would cast long shadows, we erected tents designed

to bring guests closer to nature. Instead of paving our roads, weve left them as dirt,

enabling visitors to brush off the same dust that Lewis & Clark discarded from

their trail-worn boots. And instead of building with abandon, we chose to limit our

development footprint to less than five percent of the ranch.

In a world stressed by an endless supply of complex problems and overtaxed by

technology, its comforting to know that theres still a place where you can experience

a pristine land that time forgot. As we venture into our eleventh year of sharing the

majesty and wonder of Paws Up, we cant help but to think that we are truly blessed to

be a part of what some have called Americas private national park.

    Keep on exploring!

    Charley creates a powerful

    expression of 21st century

    blues. The bands inspiration

    comes from an era when

guys like Muddy Waters and John Lee

    Hooker fused the rough-and-rural vibe

of Southern acoustic blues with modern

    electric instruments. The bands brand

of gutbucket blues and ramshackle soul

is as authentic as it is original and will

surely make you want to get up and dance.

    WALTER SAL AS- HUM ARA

    September 24 25

One of the things that makes

Wine & Bitch such a howlin

    good time is the entertainment

    provided by Silos founder

    and lead singer Walter Salas-

    Humara. His band, voted

by critics as the Best New

    American Band in Rolling

    Stonemagazine, continues

    to release great music

    year after year. And his

Americana and roots rock sound is sure to

perk up ears after both the dinner and the race.

    A multitalented artist, Salas-Humara has

been filling his spare time by becoming

    a sought-after painter.

    His whimsical portraits

    of dogs have been the

    subject of art shows and

    are the pride of many

    households across the

country. Originals and prints of his work

will be on display all weekend. For a dded

    fun, hell offer painting demonstrations,

and, yes, hes happy to accept commissions

to create art that features your pet.

    CHRISTMAS

    December 25

Magicis in the detailsAt Paws Up, we do the holidays right. Christmas around here is a truly magical time where

doubters are transformed into believers and family bonds are fortifiedall against a backdrop

of pristine white. From Santas workshop (his Montana branch) and an old-fashioned tree-

trimming party to a gingerbread house making contest, horse-drawn sleigh rides and even

an in-home visit from Kris Kringle himself, youll be singing an epic yuletide carol. Feel like

doing something different to ring in the New Year? Hang out with us for an intimate concert, a

five-course dinner, fine champagne and an unforgettable fireworks show. Unless you prefer to

watch well-coiffed TV hosts try to fill three hours of tape-delayed airtime. Good luck with that.

    Winter, a lingering season,

is a time to gather golden moments,

    embark upon a sentimental journey,

    and enjoy every idle hour.

    The wildest nightof the year

What are you doing for New Years Eve? Maybe a nice dinner out? How bout a concert? Only

if youre willing to deal with massive crowds. You could just stay home, but fat chance staying

awake until the ball drops. Why not do something different this year? At Paws Up, you can

enjoy a gourmet dinner, attend an intimate concert, watch fireworks and make resolutions

in the comfort of a luxurious vacation home. You see, a holiday centered on reflection and

recommitment should be celebrated in a place that offers seclusion and comfort. With the

addition of an unforgettable party, you wont want 2016 (or your stay, for that matter) to end.

    THE SETH GLIER TRIO

    December 31

It wouldnt be New Years Eve

at Paws Up without an up-

    close experience with a great

    musical talent. This year,

    were thrilled to feature the

    Seth Glier Trio. A Grammy-nominated

    singer-songwriter, Glier leads his

tight-knit band with a voice thats been

compared to a young Bruce Springsteen.

Early in his career, hes become knownfor his passionate live sets and a powerful

command of piano and guitar. His album,

Things I Should Let You Know, was called

a genuine revelation by Blurt magazine.

Hes shared the stage with Ryan Adams,

    Ani DiFranco, Emmylou Harris, Martin

Sexton and James Taylor. Now, let his

soulful melodies ring in a year filled with

    effortless harmony.
