We all like our peanut butter sandwiches a little differently than

others. That is what makes us unique.

We also learn differently.We can use different strategies to

solve a double digit addition problem and still

come up with the same answer.

the following problem:

Some may work for you and some may not. It’s OK!!

Traditional Algorithm

1 5 6+ 2 9 7 5

Add 6 and 9 to get 15. Put the 1 ten from 15 above the 5 in the

tens side. It is put up there because it still needs to be

added. Put the 5 ones below the 9.
