What is PEIMS
� PEIMS = Public Education Information Management System
� Electronic collection of school district & charter school data
� Standard set of definition, codes and formats
�Data includes student, personnel, financial and organizational information

The Beginning� In the beginning the 68th Legislature in 1984 - House Bill 72 established PEIMS
� TEA charged with the development
� First staff and budget data in 1987-88 then Student data in 1989-90
� Two Committees – ITF (Information Task Force) and PCPEI (Policy Committee on Public Education Information) – 1991
� 2013-2014 new method of PEIMS submission via TSDS (Texas Student Data System)

� The rules – PEIMS Data Standard
� Data stored in district software
� Submitted to PEIMS via EDIT+ (TEASE Login)
� Edits, validates and creates reports
� Used for various state/federal reports
� District PEIMS Coordinator – DISTRICT PEIMS CHAMPION
