A Potted History

The building at 558 Magill Road, Magill has housed the Pepper Street Arts Centre since 1995 and seen many community uses over its years:

1846 - The first Primary School in Magill opens.

1926 - Wattle Park Teachers College Art Department and Kent Town Special School.

1990-1995 - Burnside Council acquires the building for a combination of uses.

1995 - Pepper Street opens its doors, known then as ‘Pepper Street Gallery and Community Studio’ followed by ‘Pepper Street Arts Centre’ in 2001 when all corners of the building are given over to arts and cultural activity for the local community.
