Classroom Installation Example

In classrooms there can be substantial problems with the room acoustics and in particular excessive reverberation times. The installation suggestion (see fig. 1) shows an ideal solution where the acoustics can be improved by the use of a combination of visually identical acoustically reflective and absorptive ceiling tiles. The reflective area directs the sound to the back of the room and the absorbent panels reduce the reverberation time improving speech intelligibility.

White, smooth surfaces together with a wide range of acoustic performances

Provides flexibility for changing the acoustic performance of a space whilst maintaining the same visual appearance

Allows appropriate choice of sound absorption and sound attenuation according to the room use

Allows the combination of areas of high absorption and high reflectance within the same ceiling with the same visual appearance

Excellent fire performance and hygienic properties

The THERMATEX Acoustic Range combines a variety of aesthetic, creative and acoustic properties in one ceiling tile range. All of the different ceiling types have an identical smooth white appearance. The THERMATEX Acoustic Range contains products that vary from acoustically reflective (aw 0.15 -Acoustic RL) to acoustically absorbent (aw 1.00 - Alpha ONE), also sound attenuation values up to an exceptional 44 dB can be achieved. The Acoustic Range provides creative choices together with acoustic performance to meet the most demanding of requirements.

THERMATEX Alpha ONE - Ceiling with the highest absorption

The highest level of sound absorption that you can get

The AMF Acoustic Range includes the new THERMATEX Alpha ONE. With a thickness of only 24mm the THERMATEX Alpha ONE achieves the highest possible sound absorption performance. The independently tested sound absorption values for both NRC and aw is 1.00 (this means 100% sound absorption according to EN ISO 11654)

The THERMATEX Alpha ONE is suitable for all applications where the highest level of sound absorption is required. The ceiling is highly effec-tive and especially suitable when only a small surface area of the ceiling is available. The system is also ideal for many environments including large offices, schools, hospitals, libraries but also atria, foyers and general circulation areas.

Overview THERMATEX Acoustic Range

THERMATEX Alpha HD - Highly absorbent plank tile

Highly absorbent acoustics, highly elegant design!

The AMF Acoustic Range includes the new THERMATEX Alpha HD with a special edge detail that has an elegant concealed joint. The panels integrate perfectly with creative modern designs, the plank tiles spanning across corridors provide a particularly elegant solution. The THERMATEX Alpha HD has an NRC of 0.85 and a aw 0.90. This high level of sound absorption makes the THERMATEX Alpha HD ideal for use in corridors, entrance foyers, single and open plan offices, classrooms and many other applications.

Knauf AMF GmbH & Co. KG. is certified according to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

The Construction Production Directive (Council Directive 89/106/EWG), relevant for Suspended Ceilings, was converted to the European Standard EN 13964. It stipulates essential criteria for the CE labelling of ceiling products and ceilings systems.

The RAL - Quality Mark confirms the consistently high quality of the AMF mineral wool, as well as its biological solubility.

AMF now offers an enhanced Acoustic Range with the addition of the new THERMATEX Alpha ONE and Alpha HD ceilings. Our full range of acoustic ceilings now includes solutions for all requirements.

The AMF Acoustic Range provides ceiling options that vary from acoustically reflective to highly absorbent with the same visual appearance. The extensive range of options provide appropriate solutions for the most demanding of applications.
