The Ping Pong Parlour project helps commercial landlords and property managers transform empty retail

units into social pop-up ping pong areas. Landlords and property managers are able to benefit from reduced

business rates, showcase the space to others and create an asset for the whole community to enjoy.

Ping Pong Parlours are usually unstaffed and provide an informal setting for members of the public to enjoy

a social game of table tennis with others.

Ping Pong Parlours: The Facts

• There is an equal split of male and female visitors

• They appeal to a mix of ages, however are most popular with 16-24 year olds

• 62% of visitors are classed as ‘inactive’

• 99% of visitors would return to the Ping Pong Parlour after their visit

Benefits to the Centre

For landlords when Table Tennis England

(non-profit) occupy a unit for up to 3 months.

The parlour model means you can then move

it to other vacant units after the 3 months!

Customers love our Ping Pong Parlours and the

free service provided by the centre. Our feedback

shows that Parlours can increase a shopping

centres footfall and customer spend.

Transform empty retail space by adding a fun,

free asset for the whole community to enjoy.

Show off the potential footfall around a retail

space to prospective tenants.

Gain positive PR throughout the local community

by providing something free to the customer. Our

parlours attract local media attention

“The main reason was to have an extra bit of service in the shopping centre,

we’ve had so much positive feedback through social media, through the

website, and it’s good people recognise the extra bit of service, it just adds a bit more value to the shopping centre”. – John Grinnell, Centre Manager
