The album honours Armstrong's musical genius as well as his effervescent personality with 13 classic numbers drawn from various phases of Armstrong's five-decade career.

In addition to Dr. John's trademark vocals and piano, and backup from some of New Orleans' finest musicians, Ske-Dat-De-Dat The Spirit of Satch features a stellar assortment of guest singers and players. Bonnie Raitt shares the spotlight on a swinging reading of "I've Got the World On A String," Ledisi and the McCrary Sisters lend gospel authority to "Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen," Anthony Hamilton is featured on a mournful "Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child," Shemekia Copeland trades verses with Dr. John on a playful reworking on "Sweet Hunk O' Trash," and the Blind Boys of Alabama lend their powerful voices to "What A Wonderful World" and "Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams."

After a trio of releases as potent as Misery Is A Butterfly, 23 and Penny Sparkle, it shouldn't come as a surprise that the new Blonde Redhead album, Barragán, sounds so

confident. Available though Kobalt Label Services/ Proper Music Distibution. There is continuity in the presence of producer/mixer/engineer Drew Brown, who was a key member of the team during the making of Penny Sparkle, and who made a number of telling suggestions along the way this time around. It was Drew who persuaded the band to head out to Key Club Recording in Benton Harbour, Michigan, where they encountered an amazing trove of vintage synthesisers – it was, in Kazu's words, "analogue heaven." When Blonde Redhead formed back in 1993 – initially a quartet, but, from 1995 onwards, the indivisible trio of Italian / Canadian twin brothers Amedeo and Simone Pace and Japanese sometime art student Kazu Makino – their music was obscured by their associations with post-No Wave art noise. The name was taken from a song by Arto Lindsay's short-lived band DNA and back then, these references suggested a band just out of step with fashion, doomed innocents stumbling into an inhospitable post-grunge landscape. But they're still here. And after 21 years it's suddenly obvious that Blonde Redhead have never made records for fame, or for money, or to ape their teenage heroes, or to indulge any of the dumb, ephemeral impulses that clog up the blogosphere with dumb, ephemeral music. They're making music, simply, because they have to. From the opening title track of Barragán, where acoustic guitars sway lazily alongside the flute-like tones of a Chamberlin synthesizer, it’s obvious that these songs breathe. The melodies occasionally flirt with folk music; outdoor sounds, including a suite of field recordings that Drew made in London’s Kew Gardens, are woven gently into the mix; and there is the odd moment where the band lets down their guard and leave a charming imperfection in the finished article. “Maybe we should work on it a little bit more” murmurs Kazu, midway through the spare, slinky “Cat On Tin Roof.” Tracks like “Dripping,” “The One I Love,” and “Defeatist Anthem” have all the emotional punch of previous high water marks like “Elephant Woman” and “23” – they just feel slightly less calculated, more serendipitous. And “No More Honey” has as much soar and swagger as anything else in the Blonde Redhead catalogue.

If Danny's previous album 'Hurricane' was notable for pairing Danny Bryant's best ever songs with Richard Hammerton's expansive production, then 'Temperature Rising' is the

closest he's come to nailing a defining blues rock recording. Recorded in little over 2 weeks in April of this year and drawing on songs that Danny wrote on the road during 2013, 'Temperature Rising' is an album full of his wailing signature guitar with deeply wrought intensity and heartfelt ballads. It's an album by an artist with over 14 years touring behind him and enough personal experiences to transpose them effortlessly into songs."Richard Hammerton and I met up three or four times in the lead-up to the recording," says Bryant. "We did some pre production and cut some demos together. We looked at the arrangements etc and pushed ideas back and forth. I love working with Richard, the moment he hears even a snippet of a raw demo, it's almost as if he can see the whole song there and then in completed fashion.” The young guitar protégé has grown up. Danny's nascent maturity is evidenced in the way he builds his musical vision with broad-brush strokes, without losing any of his essential fire. He was always destined to be a road hardened blues-rock warrior, since being mentored by Walter Trout and touring Europe in the company of Mick Taylor, Santana Buddy Guy etc., before signing with Rounder records. And while each album has been like a chapter in an Photo by Kevin Nixon ever-evolving story, it's since signing with the Jazzhaus label that he's enjoyed the kind of backing and focus needed to match his unquenchable thirst for blues-rock. The opening track 'Best Of Me' is notable for the organ layered, stuttering rhythm, an expansive wah-wah break and an echo tinged tough vocal. The sledgehammer blues-rock of 'Take Me Higher' pushes Danny's into Zeppelin territory with big drums, another tough vocal and a perfunctory cutting edge ending, while the later high octane 'Mystery' sounds like a fun, 'live in the studio' splurge, on a piano-led, guitar driven wig out. "I Know it's a common cliché but I truly believe this is my best ever work. I am more proud of this record than anything I have ever done. Treehouse 44 release the first known recordings by British folk guitar hero Michael Chapman. Previously unreleased, these are the earliest known recordings of this great

British guitar hero, or as Michael Chapman calls it "The album I had no idea I had made!" This follows on the heels of Light in The Attic'c catalogue re-issue programme.

The story of how Michael Chapman turned pro as a musician, walking into a Cornish pub and offering to play a gig in return for shelter from the rain outside is both well known and well told. These "lost" recordings catch up with our hero of the piece some eight months later as he played a show at Folk Cottage, Mitchell near Newquay in Cornwall on Good Friday, 24th March 1967. The Folk Cottage was established in 1963 and the former granite built farm workers building had secured it's reputation as a seminal venue on the circuit, with a host of talented local folk artists such as John The Fish and Brenda Wotton performing there as well as it proving to be a haven for the likes of Wizz Jones and Ralph McTell. At the time Chapman was being billed as "exciting new blues artist" and that is reflected in some of the material captured in these recordings ("Baby Please Don't Go", "Parchman Farm" and "Kansas City") but there is also the odd surprise in store for Chapman fans, including a cover of Buddy Holly's "That'll Be The Day" as well as three original instrumentals that highlight the emergence of Chapman's innovative and instantly recognisable guitar style that we know today. The original recordings are quite remarkable given the equipment and set up at their disposal. With the exception of editing out some re-tuning of guitars (sorry Michael!) we have preserved the performance in its entirety, providing a unique insight into the emergence of Michael as the artist we know today as well as a vivid soundtrack of a venue pivotal to the British folk and roots scene. Brand new studio album from Shakatak. Shakatak have enjoyed a level of success and career longevity rarely paralleled in contemporary music. They are the Rolling Stones of Jazz-funk and their music just keeps getting better and better. After a number of successful top twenty singles in the UK and over 50 releases in their back catalogue, the band have gone on to secure huge international popularity which continues as they prepare for their upcoming tours of Mexico and Japan. After the success of their last release 'Once Upon A Time', a one-off project that saw the band re-arrange their classic hits into acoustic versions, Shakatak are back with a newly recorded studio album containing 14 new tracks as well as an additional digital download. Kicking off with the title track 'On The Corner' we are in classic Shakatak territory with their unique vocal/piano mix. The groovy 'To Be In Love' follows, its sweeping strings and smoky vocals backed up by Bill Sharpe's jazzy piano. 'Sao Paolo Sunshine' brings us straight into summer with its funky Latin vibes, as does the smooth 'Ojai Freeway' and the bossa-nova tinged 'Jazz and Romance'. No Shakatak album is complete without some low down funk, and after a few mellow ballads we get our share. 'Good Time' is driven along by George's bass with a guest appearance from the saxophonist Derek Nash, the main jazz soloist with the UK's Jools Holland's R&B Orchestra. The music of Americana artists mixed with traditional Irish songs were the soundtrack for Ben Glover growing up in the sleepy seaside village of Glenarm in the north of Ireland. "I remember

playing my first session in the local pub when I was about 13. As much as I loved playing Irish music I was always slipping in songs from Hank Williams or Johnny Cash.”

One cold rainy day in Christmas 2012, Ben headed down to the Mississippi Delta and in particular to the visit the grave of legendary bluesman, Robert Johnson. Upon returning from Mississippi he began thinking of his "two worlds" and was inspired to make a musical union between his homes on both sides of the ocean. Along with his producer Neilson Hubbard with whom he has made his three previous albums and fellow Nashville guitarist Kris Donegan, he flew home to Ireland. They were joined by two of Ben's longtime Irish musical collaborators Matt McGinn and Colm McClean and the five set up a studio in the living room of the house in County Donegal where Ben vacationed as a child. The result of this homecoming is Atlantic and is easily Ben's finest record. Atlantic deals with many themes - place, growth, pain, love, faith, sin, redemption and ultimately homecoming. Whether it's examining how the choices we make affect our fate in "Oh Soul" written with Mary Gauthier, or the haunting gothic murder ballad "Blackbirds" co-written with and featuring Gretchen Peters, or the angst filled "Too Long Gone," these songs are evidence of a writer and a singer who has found his voice.

Continuing our reissue programme of classic Funkadelic albums packaged in deluxe CD mediabooks, ‘Uncle Jam Wants You’ was the band’s eleventh studio LP first released in 1979. More militant in tone than its predecessor One Nation Under A Groove, which described a Funk utopia, Uncle Jam’s stated mandate was to “rescue dance music from the blahs”. The album features a 15-minute version of what was to become the band’s last hit single ‘(Not Just) Knee Deep’, an edited version of which made US R&B No.1. Uncle Jam... had a huge influence on the hip-hop scene, notably the legendary Uncle Jamm’s Army. Reproduced here in a deluxe mediabook with a 16-page booklet, this was Funkadelic’s first album since 1972 not to feature a cover design by artist Pedro Bell (although he did contribute to the interior design). A reference to the “Uncle Sam Wants You!” US Army recruitment poster, the sleeve depicts George Clinton aka Dr Funkenstein in a Huey Newton Black Panthers pose.
