Iac’s baghouse winterizing kit protects your baghouse’s pulse valves and compressed air header from snow, ice, and freezing weather - guarding against production interruptions and downtime.

snow, ice, and freezing temperatures can cause pulse valves to freeze open or the internal diaphragms to crack; bleeding the compressed air header of the air pressure and air volume required to effectively clean the bags. When bag cleaning air is reduced or interrupted, the dust cake stays on the bag restricting air flow, and system pressure can build to the point where reduced production or plant interruption results.

this can be avoided with Iac’s “WInterIzIng KIt” for pulse jet collectors. Kits are custom-designed for each header/valve assembly, regardless of the original manufacturer. they include an insulated pulse valve enclosure with top-removal quick-release lid(s) for service access, heating element(s), and thermostat control to maintain the header/valve assembly above 32°F. this essentially eliminates the possibility of inclement weather interrupting your baghouse operation.

Iac builds pulse-jet dust collectors for applications from 500 to 2,000,000 cfm – so any size or style header assembly can be accommodated for.

In the summer of 2002, Iac was commissioned by an east coast cement producer to convert a norblo reverse air / shaker sweep dust collector on their no 3 raw mill to a high efficiency pulse jet unit to reduce maintenance costs, decrease pressure drop, and double system air flow.

the 1960’s vintage unit consisted of 6 compartments venting 21,000 cfm. the new Iac conversion unit uses a new fan handling 40,000 cfm @ 2” w.c. pressure drop.

the norblo unit was rebuilt by fitting a custom designed pulse-jet clean air plenum, bags, cages, outlet ductwork, and fan to the existing norblo hopper and dirty air plenum.

the plant set eight days aside for this project, and planned on continuing production on their other lines. Working “24/7” Iac millright crews completed this project in only six calendar days, putting the plant back on line two days early.

this photo sequence shows the original unit, disassembly of the norblo cleaning system module by module, the internal stiffeners welded to the existing dirty air plenum, the installation of the mating flange, and the mounting of the custom designed clean-air plenum assembly complete with tubesheet, headers, blowpipes, top doors and handrails.

this customer has subsequently commissioned Iac to convert several other units.

this midwestern cement producer has contracted with Iac to convert seven different dust collectors at this facility to pulse jet design.

this particular unit was a 5-zone ecolaire shaker style baghouse installed on a bulk rail storage silo system. the customer specified a pulse-jet conversion to simplify maintenance and effectively filter more air in the future.

the existing fan was re-used initially. the shaker cleaning mechanism was removed along with the tubesheets and zone divider walls. a new tubesheet was installed along with compressed air manifold, blowpipes and timer board. the entire existing housing was re-used, creating a walk-in clean air plenum. a new door was installed for this purpose. the converted collector filters 6000 cfm of 180°F air at 1.51 to 1 air-to-cloth ratio.

Future plans call for a new fan to increase air flow. the converted pulse jet baghouse is designed to effectively handle the planned additional air flow requirements.
