My personal design philosophy and, even deeper, my personal credo rests in two things: helping people and being a learner for life.

I try to see architecture and everything I do as it stands objectively. As something that, whether for good or evil, affects others. With that in mind, I strive for excellence in my work.

August 2009-present Int’l Student Ministries ASTEK Leader Architecture Students Teaching Elementary Kids is a program sponsored by the AIAS to give back to the communityof Stillwater. I teach 5th grade classes the basics of architectural design once a week while coordinating a group of assisting college students.

Spring 2010 Design Studio Financial Coordinator

April 2011-present AIAS lecture series coordinator The AIAS and School of Architecture partner annually to offer a lecture series to Oklahoma State University. These talks provide learning opportunies that would otherwise be unavailable in Stillwater, OK and heave featured Stan Carroll of Beyond Metal, Juan Carlos Calderon, Pickard Chilton, and more.

One of the most enjoyable things in my education has been developing my creative process. I do not belie my literary bent,

and one important step in my design journey is to flesh out the basic concept behind a project in words. Though this may seem divorced from

the graphic nature of architecture, I believe that beyond images, architecture can be understood through feeling.

Feellings can be described in many ways, but I use words to chronicle my original intent for the ‘feel’ of a design,

I am also a strong believer in graphic representation of information. I find it helps both my teachers, classmates, and me grasp why a certain conclusion has been made and what the most important things are concerning a project.

The more concise a graphic is the greater the opportunity to present an even more substantial amount of relevant information.Such conciseness can only be reached when I truly understand the information myself.

Spring 2011: Design Studio

Utilizing computer software heavily and working in teams of two-three for each project, I learned a lot this past year. I strengthened my software skills to translate my designs and learned even more of the pros and cons of working in a group

This studio also developed a design concept I have held for some time: design is for people’s benefit. Whether designing a new type of retirement living (image to the left) of considering how a building affects urban growth patterns (image to the right), the basis for all decisions was the good of the client and the community.

Spring 2011: Design Studio

This studio was not only focused on developing computer skills. It also functions as the first design-build experience of the program.

The client for this project was the Wondertorium. Stillwater’s emerging children’s museum.

Through five interactive exhibits, children learn the most basic intuitive form of physics.

We were able to compete with each other and work in groups ranging from 2 to 12 members to successfully design, plan, and build these projects within a conservative budget and time frame.

DesignThe Navigator Ministry at OSU was looking for a t-shirt design to start branding their group. I was asked to create a design. I drew from the organization’s international look and created a stylized verson focused on the nautical roots of the outfit.

Illustration I illustrated a book for The Little Lightouse in Tulsa, a preschool for children with two or more diabilities such as blindness, autism, down syndrom, etc...
