He ended up as a king of the ele- $$ phants, Gajendra. One day as a leader of its herd this $$ elephant wasattackedbyacrocodileasit entereda $$ lake for relieving its thirst. Dhruv was the son from queen Suniti, $$ who was the older of the two. Suruchi, the younger $$ queen also had a son whose name was Uttam. The $$ king loved the younger queen and spent most of his $: time with her. :$ $$ The two half brothers used to play together and loved $$ each other like real brothers. One day, after playing in $$ theirgardenDhruvandUttamcametogethertothe $$ palacewhereSuruchi usedtolive. Thekingwas at $$ thattimesittingwithher. Duryodhan andShukni, usingaset of falsedice, cheatedandgradu-ally the Pandavas lost their state and all their belong-ingsincludingthemselves. NowtheywereslavesofDuryodhan, who challenged them to one last throw ofdicewhereintheycouldwinall thattheyhadlost ifthey put their wifeDropadion thestake. Yudhishter,whowasacompulsivegambler, acceptedthis chal-lenge in spite of strong protests from his brothers andsome elders.The dice was thrownand, as expected, Duryodhanwon. Thus Dropadi also became his slave. Duryodhanimmediatelyorderedthat Dropadi bebrought tohiscourt. One of his brothers, Doshasan, went andbrought her by mercilessly pulling her by hair. Whenshereachedtheroyal court Duryodhantoldherthatsometimebackshehadinsultedhimbycalling himblindlikehisfather. Thereforenowhewouldorderthat her clothes be removed so that this blind Duryod-han(alongwithhis courtiers) couldseeher naked.Then he would make her sit on his thigh. He then or-dered his brother Doshasan to remove Dropadi' sclothes. At this Dropadi remembered Lord Krishna, inwhom she had great faith, to save her from this catas-trophe. Hisoriginal $$ namewasBurha. Asa youngboy, onedaywhilehe $$ wasgrazingthefamilycattleoutsidehisvillage, he $$ met Guru Nanak who happened to pass by. Burha, on $: seeingasaintlyperson, milkedoneof hiscowsand :$ brought a bowl full ifmilkto GuruNanak. After $$ obeisance, he offeredthe milkto GuruNanakand $$ humblyprayedtohim, "Itismygoodfortunethat I $$ have had the sight of you, 0great one. Please absolve $$ mefromthecycle of birthanddeath".
