EXCELLENCE INNOVATION SUCCESS COMMUNITY POTTSVILLEBEACH PUBLIC SCHOOL Wednesday 19 February 2020 Term 1 Week 4 PRINCIPAL NEWS Welcome Back! Thank you again for supporting the coffee van this week. We’re trialling having it at school every Monday for the rest of the term. I’d value your feedback about keeping it here beyond Term 1. We’d love to have a chat with you around the coffee van - hope you get the chance to come along. A big thank you in advance to Kath Frost, Sue Matheson and Jodie Carroll for working tirelessly to establish the Sentral Parent Portal. We hope it will be up and running in Term 2. It will be the one stop shop for all things school. We will send information out in the coming weeks. I believe it was the first time ever that a Pottsville Beach swimming carnival had to be abandoned last week. Thank you to Mr Rologas for swiftly booking the pool this afternoon to complete the carnival. Thank you also to the staff for ensuring we could conduct the carnival after hours. A note was sent home about being part of a working party for the new playground. It’s not too late to let me know you can be involved. This week has seen our executive team work with the Leader of Teacher and Learning and the Curriculum Advisor for our area. We are looking at establishing common practice across K-6, to ensure consistency across our school and to support our staff to continually develop their curriculum expertise. Impact Coaches and some executive staff will also attend professional learning this Friday, with the aim of developing processes to ensure we can give and receive quality feedback to each other. We have an amazing opportunity for the community to spend an evening with motivational speake, Luke Kennedy. Luke is an amazing human. I strongly advise you come along on Monday 2 March at 5.30pm. Luke’s parent talk is deep. At every one he does, there’s tears, laughs, plenty of Ahhhh moments, and the parents leave inspired with simple yet extremely effective take-home strategies to improve their connection with their kids and also improve their own mental health. Please encourage your friends and family within our community to come along and be inspired. A note was sent home today with more information. Our Years 3-6 students will also have the opportunity to hear him speak on the Monday 2 March. (His session with the students is his PG version).
