INTRODUCTIONWith the emerging nano technology,

scientists are working on the new concept called the nano leaves that will help producing electricity with the help of solar energy.

This paper is about renewable energy and in particular the innovative technology of artificial trees and leaves known as BIOMIMICRY

WHAT IS BIOMIMICRY?????

In this theory nano leaves transform light ,heat and wind energy into eco friendly electricity.Biomimicry is a developing science attempting to solve human difficulties by fostering nature’s clever systems.

HOW NANO LEAVES CREATES ELECTRICITY????

They create electricity in three ways:

Nano photo voltaic generators in the leaf directly convert solar energy into electricity

Nano thermo electric cells convert solar heat to electricity

Nano piezo generators convert wind energy into electricity.

THERMAL ENERGY

This is captured through the use of photo voltaic cells which convert thermal energy into electricity by using semi conducting materials.

LIGHT ENERGY There are also tiny photovoltaic cells

incorporated in the nano leaves. These small pv cells capture the light rays emitted by the sun.The light is then converted into electricity

Kinetic energy is harnessed through movement. The wind blows motion in stems and branches. The motion is collected via piezo voltaic (pz)cells. The pz and semi conducting devices convert typical ind energy into electricity

KINETIC ENERGY

NANO TREES OPERATION AND WORKING:When outside forces like wind pushes

the nano leaf back and forth mechanical stresses appear in the petiole, twigs and branches. When thousands of nano leaves flap back and forth due to wind millions and millions of pico watts are generated, the stronger the wind the more energy

is generated.

Nano leaves reflect a small part of the sunlight that strikes them ,mostly the green light and the rest of the spectrum is efficiently converted into electricity. Due to unique combination of photo voltaic and thermo voltaic in nano leaves it converts thermal radiation into electricity.

Solar botanic’s nano leaves

It is a company that plans to introduce artificial trees that make use of renewable energy for the sun and wind. They have created what they call “nano leaves” that produce electricity. They can produce in a variety of real tree leaf shapes, contain solar cells to convert sunlight to electricity .these come as broad leaf trees, evergreen trees or as shurbs

plants,roof ,wall carpets and fencing

DESERTSTHE POWER SUPPLIED BY THE TREES

PLANTED IN THE DESRT CAN BE USED TO POWER DESALINATION PLANTS TO PRODUCE FRESH WATER FROM SSEA WATER AND BRAKISH WATER AQUIFERS.THEY ALSO PROVIDE SHADE AS WELL AS PROTECTION FROM SUN WIND AND SANDSTORMS.

RECREATION GROUNDS AND GOLF COURSES THE ELECTICITY PRODUCED CAN BE

USED TO CHARGE ELECTRICITY POWERED GROUND AND MAINTENANCE VEHICLES SUCH AS GRASS CUTTERS AS WELL AS ELECTRICITALLY POWERED HAND TOOLS.

OFFICE PARKING AND INDUSTRIAL ZONE•Trees planted in these locations will not

only supply electrical power for the office and industrial units but add aesthetic qualities to an otherwise drab area, whilst providing shade from wind and sun.

Electrical energy from nano leaves•The photovoltaic,piezo voltaic,thermo

voltaic harvesters are linked to junction boxes, from where they are amalgamated and fed collectively into an inverter. This converts electricity from direct current to alternate current. It is estimated that a six meter area of nano leaves canopy will generate enough electrical power to supply an average household.

CONCLUSION

These super eco friendly synthetic trees will make use of renewable energy from the sun along with wind power. I express my humble opinion that fake plastic trees are not the best way to transform our urban landscapes. Solar nano technology has wide ranging potential .Using such nano technology power producing solar products could be applied to just above any surface downtown or anywhere. So why the need for rows of plastic trees lining our boulevards???????
