SIDALC-SUIRNAME

Sidalc-Suriname started on April 20, 2002.

6 Institutions participated in the project:1. Anne van Dijk Rice Research Centre Nickerie (ADRON)2. Center for Agricultural Research in Suriname (CELOS)3. Faculty of Technology of the University of Suriname (FTeW)4. Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture

(IICA)5. Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries

(LVV)6. Library of the University of Suriname (L/ADEK)

RESPONSIBILITIES OF INSTITUTIONS

ADEK/L:Coordination of the System at national levelMake available all national bibliographic data electronicTechnical assistance and training for participating institutions.FTeW:Assistance with indexing and abstracting of the documentsTechnical assistance with the hardware

IICA:Facilitate the national administrative processFacilitate relations between the national agricultural sector and SidalcDetect information needs of users and national institutionsRecommendations for improvement of services and products

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Maintenance and care of the equipment use in the system;Keeping statistics of the system’s use;and other activities necessary to optimize Suriname’s participation in the network.

Ministry of Agriculture and the Library of the University are still processing information to Sidalc

All institutions have a library

Except for the Library of the University, none of the institutions have an on-line library yet
