Tarzan the Musical is presented in Two Acts...

BIOSKENNETH BECK (Director/Choreographer) is a lifelong member of the New Orleans dance community. He studied ballet and performed for many years with Gayle Parmelee and the Loyola Ballet, and for a time with Ballet Hysell. He has performed and choreographed in most every theatre venue in the city, including Le New Orleans Ballet Ensemble and the New Orleans Opera, set works for the UNO and Tulane University theatre departments, and has taught as a guest artist at Newcomb College and Loyola University. Mr. Beck has taught at the Myra Mier School of Ballet for many years. His work with the Jefferson Ballet Theatre has been recognized with a Big Easy Award for the Classical Arts.

JEAN-YVES TESSIER (Lighting Designer) is a primate with a single opposable thumb. He hails from the cold reaches of Canada and once had a sexy French accent. He has since lost it. If found please take good care of it. Selected credits include: Dan Castellaneta’s For Piano And Harpo, Cirque Musica: Crescendo at the Hollywood Bowl. 3D Theatricals: Ragtime (2015 Ovation Award Nominee), Sideshow, Parade (2013 Ovation Award Nominee). Crystal Cruises: Maestro. McCoy-Rigby Entertainment: Ring of Fire (2012 Ovation Award Nominee), Boeing Boeing. A Noise Within: Antigone, Arcadia. DOMA: American Idiot, Young Frankenstein (2015 Ovation Award Nominee).

EMILY BILLINGTON (Costume Designer) is new to the New Orleans area and is very excited to be working with Jefferson Performing Arts Society as the resident costume designer and costume shop manager. She is a proud alumni of The University of Alabama where she received her MFA in Costume Design and Production. She has enjoyed working across the country at such theatres as Utah Shakespeare Festival, Unto These Hills, Clinton Showboat Theatre, Illinois Shakespeare Festival, and Cripple Creek Theatre Co. Emily would like to thank JPAS for being so welcoming, her family, and Thomas for his constant love and support.

JAMES ROYCE EDWARDS,AEA* (Tarzan), a native of San Diego, is thrilled to be joining the JPAS company with Tarzan the Musical. James is perhaps best well known for starring as Tarzan in the post broadway regional premiere of Disney’s Tarzan for a 6 month sold out run at the Tuacahn Center for the Arts. Most recently James played the role of “Jake” in the new musical October Sky for Universal Theatricals at the Old Globe Theatre, “Chris” in Miss Saigon, and “Nicky Fangs” in the off-Broadway hit That Bachelorette Show which he helped co-create. James’ Broadway and National Tours include: Mamma Mia, Hairspray, All Shook Up, Pippin, and The Grinch. Off-

Broadway: Altar Boyz, Matthew Passion, and Wanda’s World. James was also the first to play “Prince Eric” in the regional premiere of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. CHRISTIAN TARZETTI (Jane) is excited and incredibly honored to be playing Jane in her first production on the JPAC stage. Christian has been seen in many productions around the New Orleans area including Wendy in Peter Pan at Rivertown, Mimi in Rent with Empire Theatrics, and Belle in Beauty and the Beast at Dominican. Christian returned from Walt Disney World over the summer where she was a Character Performer! Christian is now working at the National World War II Museum as a Victory Belle and is enjoying every minute of it! She would like to thank her family for always supporting her and her friends for being awesome.

WESLEY ADAMS (Young Tarzan) is a student at Stuart Hall School for Boys in New Orleans. He is also proud to be a JPAS Theatre Kid, having appeared in JPAS productions of Seussical, Jr. (Jojo); Elf, Jr. (Michael Hobbs); The Lion King, Jr. (Young Simba); Mary Poppins (Michael Banks u/s); and Beauty and the Beast, Jr. (Lumière). Other recent roles have included Willie Maurrant in Street Scene for Loyola Opera Theatre, Hero Boy in The Polar Express Train Ride – New Orleans for Rail Events Productions, and in the Brundibár ensemble for New Orleans Opera Association. When not on stage, Wesley enjoys performing in the choir and bell choir at school,

watching college football, practicing piano, playing soccer or tennis, and singing karaoke. Wesley thanks Mr. Kenny and Maestro Assaf for this wonderful opportunity to work with such a talented cast and team. He also thanks Ms. Lynne Bordelon and the rest of the JPAS staff for all they do to promote the arts to the youth in our community and all of his family and friends for their abundant love, encouragement, and support.

BOBBY HEDGLIN-TAYLOR (Aerial Sequence Choreographer) is so excited to be joining JPC for this amazing production of Tarzan and working again with the amazing Paul Rubin, The Fly Guy! Bobby’s work was featured on Broadway in the smash hit revival of Pippin where he trained Tony award winners Patina Miller and Andrea Martin for their roles in the A.R.T. production, as well as Tony award Nominee Tovah Feldshuh. Bobby was the tightrope trainer for Tony award Nominee Rob McClure for the 2012 musical Chaplin on Broadway. Off Broadway his aerial work was featured in the CSC version of A Midsummer Nights Dream starring Bebe Neuwirth and Christina Ricci. He’s the Cirque choreographer for Holland America Cruise line and was the special affects designer for the band The Deafening music video “Dress You Up” starring Tony Award Winner Lena Hall. As an aerial sequence choreographer Bobby staged 22 productions of the musical Barnum, as well as training and sequencing for shows like Aida, Tarzan, Carnival, Madagascar Live! and Annie Get Your Gun. MICHELLE TAYLOR (Production Stage Manager) is thrilled to join the Tarzan the Musical team! Selected regional stage management credits include: Smartphones (Ambassador Theatre), Girl Vs Corinth (Monumental Theatre Company) , Importance of Being Earnest (Scena Theatre), The School for Scandal (The Hartwig Theatre), and Ragtime (Mannoni Performing Arts Center) Education: Masters of Fine Arts in Directing from The University of Southern Mississippi and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre.

MARIE BECNEL, EMC** (Kala) is thrilled to take the stage with JPAS again, having recently been seen in Funny Girl, Mary Poppins, Sister Act, and Rigoletto. A Florida native, she attended New World School of the Arts in Miami where she received her BFA in Musical Theatre. Marie is also an alumna of the American Theatre Wing’s Springboard program in NYC. Since her arrival in New Orleans she has appeared in multiple productions city-wide, including Once More With Feeling (Giles), Measure for Measure (Lord Angelo), Dr. Horrible’s…Blog (Ensemble), and Merrily We Roll Along (Ensemble). Love to my family and the amazing friends who feel like family.

LOUIS DUDOUSSAT (Kerchak) is excited for audiences to witness this staging of Tarzan. He is hopeful that the experience will delight area theater goers and elevate their expectations related to locally produced musicals. Most recently Louis appeared as George in the Rivertown Theaters production of Billy Elliot, and he played John Hancock in 1776 last November. Prior to that he was seen portraying King Charlemagne in Le Petit Theatre’s production of Pippin. He was JB Biggley in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying at Rivertown… George Banks in Mary Poppins in the fabulous Jefferson Performing Arts Society production… Herman in

the Rivertown production of Sweet Charity and in The Addams Family Louis played Mal Beineke also for Rivertown. He was honored to help open the beautiful, new Jefferson Performing Arts Center with the JPAS production of My Fair Lady as Colonel Pickering. Louis also played Andre in the Rivertown Theaters production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. He is grateful to his wife and children for facilitating his dream to play on stage.

LUKE HALPERN, EMC** (Terk) is ecstatic that Tarzan is his first JPAS show and with such a stellar cast! He is finishing his senior year at Tulane University for Musical Theatre. Past credits include Ralph in Reefer Madness, the Black Guy in The Toxic Avenger, and Benny in Rent. A big thanks to Dennis, Kenny, and the cast and crew for making this production so magical as well as to my family for always supporting me.

BUTCH CAIRE (Porter) is proud to be working with JPAS again after having directed Funny Girl and Breaking Up Is Hard To Do earlier this season. He thanks Denny and Kenny for giving him this opportunity. And, for Gwen, you’ll be in my heart, now and forever more.

JOHN MICHAEL HAAS, AEA* (Clayton) is so grateful for the opportunity to be on the JPAC stage again. John received his Bachelor of Music: Musical Theater from Oklahoma City University and has since performed all around the USA and NOLA. Some of his recent credit include Funny Girl (Ziegfeld Tenor), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Jimmy Smith), Forum (Hero), My Fair Lady (Freddy), Miss Saigon (Chris), Sweeney Todd (Anthony), The Full Monty (Malcolm), Light in The Piazza (Giuseppe), and West Side Story (Tony). John would like to thank Kenny, Dennis, Donna, and the whole creative staff for this opportunity. Love and Gratitude.

WARREN A. HOVIS (Father/Ensemble) is honored to be in his 3rd production with JPAS. He relocated to the New Orleans area from Shreveport in June 2013. On-stage credits include: The Wizard of OZ (The Cowardly Lion), High School Musical (Coach Bolton), Mary Poppins (John Northbrook and ensemble), The Nutcracker 2014-2016 (ballet - Mother Ginger, the drunk, party scene guest, and Grandfather), Humbug! (Mistlehouse, Marley, and Robert), My Fair Lady (Loverly Quartet and ensemble), Once Upon A Mattress (The Minstrel), The Sleeping Beauty (ballet - Catalabutte, Hairspray (Wilbur Turnblad), The Music Man (Jacey Squires -barbershop quartet),

and Forever Plaid (Sparky - unperformed due to relocation). Pit Orchestra (trombone) performances include The Music Man (two separate productions) and Brigadoon. Warren is married and has 5 daughters, two sets of twins. Warren loves to sing a cappella music, and spend time with his friends and family. He would like to thank his loving wife, Karrie, and his wonderful daughters: Lindsey, Patricia, Corinn, LeeAnn, and Rachael. TGBTG!!

LAUREN GUTIERREZ (Leopard), while originally from New Orleans, began her training at 26 years old dancing in studios all over New York City. She has performed contemporary ballet, flamenco and Horton with companies in NYC and is happy to be back home to do what she loves in her hometown! So far in NOLA, she appeared in a music video for Edwards Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros “No Love Like Yours.” She is currently a company member in Flashmob New Orleans with whom she does projects throughout the city. She is also a member of Komenka Ethnic Dance Ensemble with whom she toured Europe last summer. Lauren is so excited and honored to be a part

of the JPAS performing community.

MEGHAN KESSEL (Mother/Ensemble) is a senior at Loyola University New Orleans majoring in Music Education with a concentration in Voice. She studies with Dr. Betsy Uschkrat, and is a student assistant conductor under Dr. Meg Frazier. Meghan has appeared in productions with the Jefferson Performing Arts Society, Southern Rep, and the New Orleans Opera Association. She performs in two of Loyola’s choirs and with their opera program every year. She also is part of Sigma Alpha Iota, a women’s music fraternity and serves as their treasurer. Most recently she was seen in Loyola Opera’s production of Street Scene by Kurt Weil. She would like to thank her family

and friends for their support and love!

PAUL BELLO, EMC** (Snipes/Ensemble), a native New Orleanian, following a busy season in his hometown, joins Tarzan after the world premiere of the original Nancy Gregory work, Jambalaya the Musical, soon to tour nationally, in which he performs the role of the Gris Gris Man. Paul has recently appeared in JPAS productions of Funny Girl, Mary Poppins, Sister Act, Rigoletto, Light in the Piazza, and My Fair Lady. At JPAS he’s also appeared in the roles of Gonzorgo in Babes in Toyland, Dick Deadeye in H.M.S. Pinafore, Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar, Pawnee Bill in Annie Get Your Gun, The Duke/Dr. Carrasco in Man of La Mancha, Yussel in Fiddler on the

Roof, and as Reg Willoughby in The Full Monty. Paul has also appeared as Peron in Evita, Sgt. Carlino in Wait Until Dark, The Beadle in A Christmas Carol, Miles Gloriosus, in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, at Rivertown Reperatory (Now Rivertown Theatres); as Big Julie, in Guys and Dolls, Sir Lionel in Camelot, the Grand Inquisitor in Candide, the Finance Man in Sunset Boulevard at Tulane Summer Lyric; Pedro in Man of La Mancha. Chino in West Side Story at Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre; and many more.

KYLE BARDELL (Ensemble) is a senior at Jesuit High School in New Orleans. He has been acting ever since the age of six appearing on stages across Louisiana and screens nation-wide. This is his first production with JPAS. After Kyle’s senior year at Jesuit, he will be attending American University in Washington, D.C. to study business practices. He plans to continue his acting career and perfect his artistic craft.

KIMBERLY MATULICH-BECK (Ensemble) began her dance training at a young age with Kathy Gamble, here in New Orleans. She continued her studies at Ballet Hysell School, where she studied with Mr. Harvey Hysell and Maestro Vincenzo Celli, a foremost teacher of the Cecchetti ballet method. She went on to dance with the Nashville Ballet, and next with the Alabama Ballet under the direction of Wes Chapman. She was featured in both contemporary and classical works, partnered with Chapman himself, and quickly rose to the rank of principal dancer, dancing lead roles in the company’s full length productions of ballets such as

The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, Dracula, Giselle (peasant pas de deux), and Balanchine’s Serenade. Kimberly left the Alabama Ballet to work with choreographer Kenn Tolle, with whom she performed and toured nationwide as the featured dancer with his Christian ballet company, Hosanna Sacred Arts. Kimberly is now the co-director of the Jefferson Ballet Theatre and Jefferson Ballet School in Kenner. She regularly appears as a guest artist with regional companies and, with her company, has recently danced the role of Giselle in a full-length production of the ballet, and the role of the swan queen, Odette, in Swan lake, Act II (the pas de deux from which she danced in the Opening Gala for this theatre). For JPAS, Kimberly was most recently seen as the Sugar Plum Fairy in its 2015 Big Easy Award winning presentation of The Nutcracker and as Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

JORDAN CRUSE (Ensemble) is proud to be working with JPAS again. She has been in many productions with Jefferson Performing Arts Society including The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, 101 Dalmatians and How to Eat Like a Child. In addition, she was on the JPAS Theatre Kids! Competition Team in 2011 and 2013. Other stage productions include Into the Woods as “Little Red”, Thoroughly Modern Millie as “Alice”, NOLA Project’s Main Stage production of A Very Merry Unauthorized Children’s Scientology Pageant, NOCCA’s productions of Curtains, Big Fish and Crazy for You as dance ensemble and many others. In addition, she made her television

debut in 20th Century Fox’s Scream Queens. Jordan is a senior at both Ursuline Academy and NOCCA. She would like to thank her family, friends and teachers for all of their support.

BRANDON GARZA, EMC** (Ensemble) is excited about his second performance with JPAS. He is a classically trained Vaganova ballet dancer, but has always had an interest in musical theatre and acrobatics. In addition to his ballet experience, he was recently Pepe in JPAS’ West Side Story and concluded his fourth international tour with the Komenka Ethnic Dance Ensemble. Mr. Garza has also performed with the Storytellers Dance Company and the Jefferson Ballet Theater. Brandon would like to thank his parents, friends, and family for their tremendous love and support. MVL.

CHARIS GULLAGE (Ensemble) is performing in her fifth main stage show for JPAS, and she is extremely excited and grateful to be sharing this experience with her cast and crew. Charis recently graduated as a Musical Theatre student from the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts Conservatory (NOCCA), and is now a Sophomore at Loyola University of New Orleans. Some of her most recent previous show credits include West Side Story (Consuelo), A Grand Night for Singing (Ensemble/Lead), Big Fish (The Witch), and Ragtime (Sarah). Charis would like to thank Kenny, the cast and crew, and anyone involved for a wonderful experience.

STEPHEN KERNION (Ensemble) was last seen on the JPAS stage in the first production of The Light in the Piazza, directed by Butch Caire, and in Fiddler on the Roof, directed by Kenny Beck. Locally, Stephen most recently appeared in Rivertown’s production of The Producers (Ensemble) and in Jefferson Ballet Theatre’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Demetrius). In addition to acting and dance, Stephen is a fitness instructor and an accomplished Triathlete, for which he recently claimed first overall in 2 Premier Sprint races. “Coach Stephen” is also a coach for the Nth Degree Racing Youth MultiSport Team, the city’s premier youth triathlon team. Stephen also

trains at the Fly Circus Space (under the direction of Liza Rose) and at the Jefferson Ballet Theatre (under the direction of Kenny and Kim M Beck).

JORDEN MAJEAU (Ensemble) is a senior at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) studying Musical Theatre. He is looking forward to continuing his pursuit of dance upon graduation this spring. Jorden has been performing for local audiences for the last 7 years and recently appeared on the JPAS stage as Baby John in their production of West Side Story and Wyatt in NOCCA’s production of Crazy For You. Other favorite roles include Slightly in Peter Pan, Tiny Tim in A Christmas Carol, and Colin in The Secret Garden. Jorden was also a 5 year member of the JPAS Theatre Kids! Competition Team earning an award as Outstanding Performer. Jorden would

like to thank his family and friends for all of their support and encouragement. A big thank you to the cast and artistic staff for making this such a great show.

CAT FOERSTER (Ensemble) began taking voice lessons at the age of 7 and has been singing ever since. In high school, she was involved in several musical productions and sang in the choir. From 2010-2014 Cat was a member of the Millsaps Singers at Millsaps College in Jackson, MS, where she gained experience in classical singing. She was reintroduced to musical theater in April 2016 when she was cast as a mersister, maid, and princess in The Little Mermaid at Cutting Edge Theater in Slidell, LA. Summer of 2016 she was seen in the ensemble of The Wizard of Oz at Rivertown Theater in Kenner, LA. Most recently she was seen as Janet Weiss in Cutting Edge’s

Production of The Rocky Horror Show. This summer you can see Cat at Cutting Edge Theater playing the role of Penny Pingleton in Hairspray.

TYLER PRICE, EMC** (Ensemble) is thrilled to return to the JPAS stage for the first time since age 17. DWAYNE SEPCICH (Ensemble) is elated to be swinging back into the JPAS family after a brief detour into the jungles of Texas. A New Orleans native, he was last seen on the JPAS stage as Nicky in Avenue Q, Carmen Gia in The Producers, and Perchik in Fiddler on the Roof. Other past credits include performances with Le Petite Theatre, Rivertown Rep, and Tulane Summer Lyric. Big shout out to his Manganite superfriends and the whole cast and crew! Break legs, guys!

CATE TALLANT (Ensemble) has lived in New Orleans since 2005. She has been dancing since age 4 at Rhonda Edmundson School of Dance and Jefferson Ballet Theater/Myra Mier School of Dance. She has been honored to dance with Ballet Hysell since 2010. In 2011, she was crowned Petite Miss Dance of Louisiana and went on to place 4th Runner-Up Petite Miss Dance of America in Dance Masters of America’s 2011 National Competition. In 2014 she was crowned Teen Miss Dance of Louisiana and placed in the Top 10 of Dance Masters of America National Competition. Her performances include Ballet Hysell’s The Nutcracker from 2010-2016 where she has had many roles

including the Little Nutcracker and Clara. She has also performed in JBT/Myra Mier School of Ballet’s Hansel & Gretel, The Snow Queen, and Moscow Knights’ production of Cinderella. In 2015 she was honored to be chosen to perform as young Gerde in Jefferson Ballet Theater’s The Snow Queen. Her recent performances at the JPAS Theatre include The Nutcracker, Mary Poppins, A Midsummer Nights Dream, and West Side Story. She is thrilled to be apart of Tarzan and is glad to work with an amazing cast and crew.

TAYLOR THOMAS HOSEMANN, EMC** (Ensemble) is a native of Vicksburg, MS and a graduate of the University of Mississippi. She performed as a dancer in The Lost Colony in North Carolina and trained in NYC before landing in Nola. Last season Taylor danced her way through The Producers, Sweet Charity, Mary Poppins, How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and Pippin. She was most recently seen on the JPAS stage in Funny Girl and is thrilled to return with this amazing Tarzan cast!

ELIZABETH ROSE (Ensemble) has been called “The Grande Dame of New Orleans circus”; but in truth, Liza’s career has taken her far outside the Crescent City. She has toured with the Aerialistas, was featured as a soloist in Mezzo Lunatico for Teatro ZinZanni, and toured with avant cellist Zoe Keating. She choreographed The Way Out for The Acrobatic Conundrum, which headlined the Chicago Contemporary Circus Festival in 2014. You may have seen her featured as an aerialist on American Horror Story: Freakshow; and she was honored to compete in the 2016 US Aerial Championships in NYC, where she placed third in her division. Back in her beloved

New Orleans, Liza teaches circus to kids at the International School of Louisiana, though she spends her summers coaching for Circus Smirkus in Vermont. She runs the Fly Movement Salon, an ongoing performance series for New Orleans’ circus artists, happening every first Tuesday of the month at Café Istanbul; and she is the founding director of Fly Circus Space, New Orleans’ only professional circus training facility.
