Kane County ADA Ramp Improvements Project Kane County Section No. 18-00485-01-SM

Starting the week of May 13th, 2019, Kane County will begin the process of updating pedestrian crossings to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. Each crossing will have the sidewalks and curbs replaced with depressed curbs, detectable warnings, and wheelchair accessible slopes. Each crossing will be closed for up to 5 days at a time to allow for concrete removal, replacement, and curing. A list of the crossings that will be improved are listed below in no specific construction order. Signs indicating start dates will be posted at each route approximately one week prior to starting construction at the crossing. Construction work hours will be 9am – 3pm Monday through Friday for

approximately three months, weather permitting.

The above-mentioned roads will remain open during construction, but may be reduced to one lane of travel using flaggers and temporary daily lane closures. Motorists need to be prepared to reduce their speed, exercise caution, and be extra alert. Motorists must watch for construction workers, construction vehicles entering or leaving the site, and obey flaggers and other traffic control devices within the work zone. Motorists should expect delays while traveling through the work areas. Motorists may want to add additional time to their commutes and consider the use of alternate routes while this work is being completed.

A reminder – it is illegal for drivers to talk on a cell phone while driving through a highway construction work zone.
