COHERENCE AND COHESION 1 A pupil wrote about the last picture. This is what she wrote.

Tim’s dad opened the door and came into the room. He was shocked and angry. The room looked horrible. It looked worse than before. Dust and washing was lying around everywhere. Tim was sitting in the middle of his room. He went red in the face. He didn’t know what to say. He just looked at his dad. His dad shouted at him, “I asked you to tidy and clean your room and not to mess it up again!” There are too many short sentences, so it doesn’t read well. Pull the following words into the text:

BECAUSE AND WHO WHEN BUT SO _________ Tim’s dad opened the door and came into the room, he was shocked and angry _________ the room looked horrible. It looked worse than before. Dust and washing was lying around everywhere _________ Tim was sitting in the middle of his room. He went red in the face. He wanted to say something _________ he didn’t know what to say _________, he just looked at his dad _________ shouted at him. “I asked you to tidy and clean your room and not to mess it up again!” COHERENCE AND COHESION 2 This is what a pupil wrote for the last picture, but the sentences got mixed up. Put the sentences into the correct order. 1 Tim got red in the face and said, “Sorry, Dad!” 2 When Tim’s dad came into the room, he was shocked by what he saw. 3 So Tim’s dad shouted, “What happened in here?” 4 Tim was sitting on the floor and there was dust and dirty clothes everywhere.
