History, clinical signs, and response to hormone therapy may
form the basis of a presumptive diagnosis in many cases.
Testing for elevations of all three sex hormones (estradiol,
androstenedione, and 17-hydroxyprogesterone) may provide
better sensitivity for identifying adrenal gland disease.
Abdominal ultrasound is useful for detecting enlarged
adrenal glands. The size, side of enlargement and
architecture can often be determined.
Enlarged adrenal glands may be detectable on palpation

Surgical treatment:
Perform a unilateral adrenalectomy if only one adrenal
gland is diseased. If both glands are diseased, a subtotal
adrenalectomy with total removal of one gland and
partial removal of the other is indicated.
