Project WorK

(Over 2 weeks)

I hope you all enjoyed learning about how the Daintree rainforest is different from our home. I am sure that you ‘differences’ column within your table was very full!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hu6Y-gTZtzcThis week’s Geography learning is going to be slightly different. I hope that it will still be very interesting for you!I have found a very interesting YouTube channel called ‘Atlas Pro’. This channel explores many different areas of Geography and this week, I have chosen a video all about ‘The Geography of fruit’. Your task this week is to watch the video and then have a go at plotting all of the different fruits that you have learnt about, onto a world map. I have provided you with a blank template of a world map so that you can do this! The children have looked at the different continents during our previous Geography learning and so they should be very familiar with where the different continents are on the map.Try to make your maps as colourful as possible by drawing the different fruits once you have found which continent they come from. I would love to see some of your maps!

ScienceThis half term the children would have been learning about different Scientists and Inventors, who have contributed greatly to our scientific knowledge today.

Here is an exciting enquiry project for the children to complete.

ReligionThis half term our Religion learning would have been ‘The Church is born’.

It has been lovely to think about how the Holy Spirit is near to us all of the time. This week we are going to focus on the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

This week, I would like you to choose one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit and write about how you are going to try and live out this particular fruit during your time at home. You could also give examples of the different things that you will do to display this fruit and explain why you have chosen this one.

Art This year Children’s Art Week will take place online, at home and in schools across

‘At Holy Family we grow, learn and succeed in the footsteps of Jesus.’

three weeks in June and July. Each week will focus on a special theme. They start this week! Take a look below at this week’s activity:

Week 1- The Natural WorldUsing materials from around the home — from empty card board packaging to old clothes or craft materials such as paint — make some super British Wild Animals that you can use as a window display or perhaps even turn into stick puppets. The animals are based on three British wild animals: the red squirrel, badger and hedgehog. This activity is aimed at children and families and includes many ideas of how to add and adapt the activity to suit whoever is taking part. Use the pack provided on a separate PDF.Take photographs of your British Wild Animals and send them to: [email protected] I can’t wait to see them!

PSHE This week, our PSHE theme is all about ‘Happiness is…’. Think about the Science of happiness; our brains are in charge of our feelings and emotions and release ‘feel good’ chemicals. The fantastic news is that there are things we can all do to trigger our brains to release these ‘feel good’ chemicals. Talk about what makes you feel happy. Different things make different people happy, these could be spending time with their family, listening to music, going on holiday, being part of a club or doing a hobby, working hard to achieve a goal? Whatever it is that makes you happy, it is good for our mental health to spend time thinking about it and doing it!

This week your task is to create a piece of artwork which represents happiness to you. Perhaps it could be symbolic. For example, a butterfly represents freedom and nature. Think carefully about what makes you happy and how you can put this into a piece of artwork.
