On Tuesday night, despite the heat, our Presentation Night was very successful. Staff all agree we need to look at shortening the night, but we are very happy with the venue. It allows us to set up and decorate the stage to fit the big occasion. Our thoughts are we will have two sessions. K – 2 session where Kindergarten to Year Two classes are awarded their class and library awards. A break where drinks and food are available. Our P& C would also have the opportunity to run a fundraiser. 3 6 session Parents of K – 2 students can make the decision to either leave or join us for the 3 – 6 session that would include class and major awards as well as the announcement of our new school leaders. The plan would be for two 45 minute sessions. PRINCIPALS SPEECH Welcome to our annual Presentation Assembly. Tonight celebrates a year of achievements and successes. Id like to begin by introducing our special quests that represent the strong connections we have in our school and wider community. We honour your presence here tonight - P&C President – Mrs Jade Costello. VHS School Captains Beatrix Brady and Matthew Brown. Mrs Lynne Arnold representing the Honourable Member for South Coast Mrs Shelly Hancock. Lynne will present an award sponsored by her office to the Most Promising Public Speaker and Debating Student’. Miss Bonnie Marshall on behalf of State Member for Gilmore Mrs Anne Sudmalis. Bonnie will present the Young Leaders Award. Mr Bob Roach Mr John Mendola – Representatives of the Huskisson RSL Sub Branch. Tonight each teacher will present an academic excellence award to the highest achieving academic student in their class. They will receive a certificate and a book for their reading enjoyment. Awards will also be presented for literacy, Numeracy, Citizenship and encouragement or progress. Tonight I have the privilege of presenting a certificate of accreditation to Mr Ben Frost that recognises officially his Proficiency as a teacher with the Board of Studies. Congratulations Mr Frost. At this point Id also like to acknowledge the work of all my staff who together make a great team. Many of the contributions are out of the goodness of their heart and volunteered. Id particularly like to thank all our newest teaching staff who have value added to the school Ms Greta Lewis my new AP, Miss Anna Roose and Mr Ben Frost.
