This is the image I chose to use for my front cover. Opposite is the original version of the picture,

before I manipulated it in anyway in Photoshop. I

edited it in a new page, so that after I've finished, I

could just copy and paste it on to my actual front cover.

I used the ‘Magnetic Lasso Tool’ to so that I could crop around my model, getting rid of the

background. Once I done that, I pasted it on to a new layer. I

then wanted to adjust the levels of brightness and contrast of

the image. To do this, I selected the image by holding down

‘CTRL’ and the layer of which the image was on, and then went onto ‘Image’ which is at the top of the page, then into

‘Adjustments,’ and finally, ‘Levels.’ I experimented with different effects and levels, and then

clicked ‘OK’ to apply it on to the image.

It now shows the final version of the image after it had been manipulated, and placed in the correct

position on the front cover.

Furthermore, I had to resize it slightly, so that theres enough space for the text to go around. I didn’t want to add too much effect to it, as I wanted it to have a

element of naturalness.

Before I had actually manipulated the picture, I

noticed that my model had a blue strap showing. This

obviously doesn’t match with the rest of the outfit, as well as

the colour scheme for the magazine. Therefore, I had to change this. I did this by using the ‘Magnetic Lasso Tool,’ and

drew around the line. I then went onto ‘Image’ at the top of

the page, and then into ‘Adjustments,’ and then finally, into ‘Hue/Saturation’ where I could change and adjust the

colour. I chose to make it black, as this was the most appropriate

colour to use.

It now shows the strap after I changed the colour to black.

It blends in with her hair, and the dress, which makes it

more effective and realistic.
