Save your C2V file:

1 . Open the Rocscience Software Activation utility .

2 . Enter your Product Key and click on the Manual Activation link in the lower left corner .

3 . Click Save C2V and save the C2V file in an easy to find place on your machine.

4 . Attach the C2V file to an email and send it to [email protected].

5 . Once your activation is processed, Rocscience will email you back a V2C file to apply on your machine.

Load the V2C file:

1 . Save the V2C file somewhere on the same machine that you saved the C2V file on.

2 . Open the Rocscience Software Activation utility .

3 . Click on the Manual Activation link .

4 . Click the Load V2C button.

5 . Select the V2C file you received and open it.

6 . At this point the license should be activated and ready to run.

If you see an error while applying the V2C file, please take a screenshot of the error message and email it to [email protected] for further assistance.

If you encountered an error during the online activation or if you don’t have an active internet connection on the target computer, you will need to activate the software manually.

SENTINEL RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT ERROR

PERSONAL & EVALUATION LICENSE: INSTALL SAFENET DRIVERS

If a “Sentinel Runtime Environment Error” message comes up when you run the Rocscience Software Activation utility, SafeNet drivers most likely were not properly installed with the software. You will need to install them manually as shown below.

Prior to installation, please check the following:• Make sure that you are logged in with administrative privileges.• Disconnect all hardlocks/dongles from the machine.• If possible, disable anti-virus software.

To install the SafeNet drivers manually:

1 . Click on the Install Runtime link to install the drivers .

2 . After a short wait, the runtime installation should finish with the message “Operation successfully completed”.

3 . Re-open the Rocscience Software Activation utility. You should now be able to proceed with product activation .

If you still receive an error message, please take a screenshot of the message and email it to [email protected] for further assistance.

SENTINEL RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT ERROR

FLEXIBLE LICENSE: INSTALL SAFENET DRIVERS

If you encounter an error with Sentinel Runtime while installing the Flexible License Server, or if a “Sentinel Runtime Environment Error” message comes up when you run the activation utility, this means the SafeNet drivers need to be installed manually.

Prior to installation, please check the following:• Make sure that you are logged in with administrative privileges• Disconnect all hardlocks/dongles from the machine• If possible, disable anti-virus software

To install the SafeNet drivers manually:

1 . From the Start menu, launch the Sentinel Runtime Uninstall shortcut to remove the SafeNet drivers.

2 . Once completed, launch the Sentinel Runtime Install shortcut from the same location to re-install drivers.

3 . After a short wait, the runtime installation should finish with the message “Operation successfully completed”.

4 . Reopen the Rocscience Software Activation for Server utility. You should now be able to proceed with product activation .

LICENSE SERVER CONFIGURATION

CHANGE ACCESS RESTRICTIONS

The License Server can be configured using a web based interface called Sentinel Admin Control Center (ACC) and can be accessed by navigating to http://localhost:1947 in your web browser.

Note that Port 1947 cannot be changed. It is essential that it is not blocked for communication between the server and client machines.

The default settings for the license server should make it accessible to all client computers on the network, however you may wish to verify or change certain settings.

To allow or deny specific machines remote access to the server:

1 . On the server computer, go to http://localhost:1947 in your web browser.

2 . Click on Configuration in the Options panel .

3 . Select the Access from Remote Clients tab.

4 . Make sure Allow Access from Remote Clients is checked .

5 . Go to the Access Restrictions field.

6 . Type either allow=[item] and/or deny=[item], where the item is the IP address, machine name or IP range of the machine you wish to allow/deny access to the server .

7 . Click Submit to save your changes .

FLEXIBLE LICENSE OFFLINE ACCESS

DETACHING A NETWORK LICENSE

If the license type purchased allows detaching for offline use, you can follow the instructions here to do so. Note that you will need to configure both the client computer and the server to allow detaching.

IMPORTANT: No one else can use the license while it is detached. The only way to return the license is through the client computer returning the license (requires access to the license server) or having the detach duration expire.

Configure the server computer:

1 . Open the Admin Control Center in your browser: http://localhost:1947

2 . Go to Configuration in the Options panel on the left .

3 . Select the Detachable Licenses tab.

4 . Check Enable Detaching Licenses .

5 . It is recommended to set the Reserved Licenses count to at least 1 . This ensures that there will always be at least one license available to the network pool .

Configure the client computer:

1 . Open the Admin Control Center in your browser: http://localhost:1947

2 . Go to Configuration in the Options panel on the left .

3 . Select the Detachable Licenses tab.

4 . Check Enable Detaching Licenses .

5 . Click Submit to save the changes .

PRODUCT ACTIVATION INSTRUCTIONS: TROUBLESHOOTING

On the client computer:

1 . In the ACC, go to the Products page .

2 . Click the Detach button beside the license you are going to detach .

Note: If the Detach button is not visible, make sure that you properly configured the server and client computer to enable detaching.

3 . On the next screen that appears, select the Online detach method.

4 . Adjust expiration date as necessary—the license will be returned to the server automatically after the expiration date or it can be returned manually before then if required .

5 . Click the Detach & Attach button.

6 . Return to the Products page . You should see your newly detached license in the list of available licenses. It is usually indicated by a green arrow next to it.

7 . You can now disconnect your computer from the network and use the software for the duration of the detached period .

To return the license back to the server before the expiration date:

1 . On the client computer, connect back to the network so that you can see the license server in the ACC .

2 . Select the Products page .

3 . Locate your detached license (with a green arrow beside it) and click on Cancel License .

To extend the detached license period:

1 . On the client computer, connect back to the network so that you can see the license server in the ACC .

2 . Go to the Products page .

3 . Click on the Detach / Extend button beside the server license.

4 . Follow the same steps you did to detach the license initially, but instead of detaching a new license the existing license date will be extended.
