Ladies, Queens and

Princesses.. We are indeed

proud to bring to your notice

the monumental event that

took place right on our premises @ PSGR Krishnammal College on 23.12.2017.

This turned out to be a

grand success with

students of many

decades coming together to rekindle their memories

and affection for the college.

With many inspirational speeches from lawyers, teachers, mothers,

racers, in short, women from so many different fields that were

deemed women as misfits for.

Here, in the

event, were

Krishnammalites proving them wrong,

proving that women can indeed shine

in any profession of their choice! Not

only was this event motivational and

stimulating for the students but was

especially fun and entertaining.

Education, Exposure and Experience

An alumni Interface and a Guest Lecture on ‘How to Cope with the

Challenges in Work Place’ (August, 2017) was given by Mrs. Shimna

Sameer, a National Performance Executive for Merrill Edge in Bank of

America Corporation and was the chief guest of the day. She

highlighted the importance of having ‘Education, Exposure and

Experience’ through real-life examples. Mrs. Shimna is an alumna of

the Department of English and was awarded the Outstanding Alumni

Award in the year 2015.

Department of Computer Science (PG) has organized an Alumni Meet

for the batch MCA (1996-1999), Mrs Gayathri and Mrs Lavanya has

taken part in the Meet.

Department of B. Vocational- garment designing has organized an

“Alumni Meet” for the Batch (2014-2017).

Department of English organized a Workshop on 29th July 2017. Our

alumna, Dr.P.Thailambal, Dean English (SF) GVG Visalakshi College,

Udumalpet, Pollachi was the resource person and conducted the workshop

on the topic “Social History of England”.

Our respected principal, Dr. (Mrs.) S. Nirmala, MBA.,

M.Phil., Ph.D., received the Swach Survekshan award from

the Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner recognizing the

enriching activities of various clubs of the college.

Dr. (Ms.) Muthulakshmi Andal. N, MSc, PhD Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry

has won many laurels this year.

She is the recipient of “Best Researcher Award”

by Grabs Educational Charitable Trust,

Nanganallur, Chennai (22.1.2017).

She is also the recipient of “Best Scientist Award” by Indian

Academic Researchers Association, Tiruchirappalli (22.4.2017)

She received the “Outstanding Faculty in Science” by Venus

International Association, Chennai

(8.8.2017) and the Best Research

Supervisor Award by Innovative

Research Development Program group of Journals

(14.10.2017)

‘We’ Can Win

It’s not just our students that shine, we shine as a unit, faculty and

students together!

This is one of our proud moments when our Physical Directress,

Ms. Sugantha, our alumna, published an article on the importance

of dedication in order to succeed any line of work.

District Boxing

competition held at Decathlon Sports Club

on 17 - 11 - 17. Both

of our students won

gold medals in the 51

kg category and 54 kg

category.

With around 100

where around 130 players from 29 colleges

under Bharathiyar University participated.

Zone National Level Shooting Championship

2017 held at Veerapuram Police Shooting

Ranges, Chennai from 21-26 Aug 17 and won

7 medals including (4 Gold, 2 Silver and 1

bronze).

She participated in 10 meters, 22 meters,

25 meters, 177 Air Pistol Shooting Events in

Senior and Junior categories. This event was

presided by our honourable chief minister,

Thiru Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

Our Student M.Pavithra Sri, I B.Sc Physics

participated in the State Level Cycling

Championship 2017 organized by Heini Club

at kunniyur toll gate on 13.08.2017 and won

Gold Medal in the individual time trial 15km

Cycling event.

Our students won the South-zone inter

University and All-India inter University

Basketball Tournament 2017-18 organized by

Anna University Sports Board from

26.12.2017- 02.01.2018.

Leaders abroad

Students from BBA- IB and RM had

participated in a lecture on ‘Leadership’,

conducted by The American University at

Dubai on December 01, 2017.

Zealand Education

Facilitators with a

license to counsel

students and promote

International Education)

and PSGR Krishnammal

College for Women on the 26th October, 2017

to promote education overseas to New Zealand

and other countries to students in PSGR

Krishnammal College for Women and their

associate institutions.

This award has been in

recognition of the

extraordinary service the

college has been rendering to

the society through its Rural

Women Technology Park at

Annur and other initiatives.

ANOTHER FEATHER TO OUR CAP

Our College magazine

won the Best College

Magazine Award of Divyodaya

for the year 2016-17.

2017 has been an incredibly eventful year for our institution, PSGR Krishnammal as it

was this year that it was awarded the prestigious title of ‘College of Excellence’ by the

UGC. Not just this, we crossed many little and large milestones alike on our ever-

augmenting journey towards educating and empowering women.

Bettering our world

At the Summit-cum-Award show on ‘Skilling

India’ organised by The Associated

Chambers of Commerce and Industry of

India (ASSOCHAM) at New Delhi on 9th

August 2017, PSGR Krishnammal College for

Women, Coimbatore received the Best

Institute – Women Skill Development Award

under Category 4 from Hon. Union Minister

for Skill Development and

Entrepreneurship, Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy.

Our beloved Secretary, Dr. N. Yesodha Devi

received the award on behalf of the

college.
