Dear Parents and Carers,
Share our Space Program Our school playground is open for public use this holiday under the NSW Governments share our space program. NAIDOC Week celebrations Quaama PS has celebrated NAIDOC Week in a variety of ways. The Bega High School Junior AECG students hosted an indigenous games tabloid session for surrounding schools on Monday. Our students who identify as Aboriginal attended and had a most enjoyable morning playing tabloid games with students from Tathra PS and Mumbulla schools. The high school students did a tremendous job and I will be borrowing some of their game ideas back at our school. My thanks to Lauren for helping with transport.
Our Kindergarten, Year 1 and 2 students enjoyed many activities provided by Mrs Hobbis. Activities included: making Johnny cakes, face painting, friendship bracelets.

Hello from the 4/5/6 classroom,
As always, we have been very busy in the
4/5/6 classroom. Students spent several
sessions a week practising track and field
events for last week’s Athletics Carnival with
Tilba Public School. Well done to all the kids
who put in an enormous effort during the
school athletics trials and congratulations to
those who went on to represent the school at
the combined carnival.

4/5/6 Tennis sessions with James finished on
Tuesday. We had seven fantastic sessions, in
which the kids learned and practiced a great
deal of skills. James and I were both
impressed with the overall great attitude and
willingness to have a go that most students
exhibited throughout the term.
In History, we have been continuing to
explore early colonial times and the impact on
individual groups within Australia. In Week 8,
students were given a project that they have
been working on over the remaining three
weeks of the term. Working in pairs, they

have chosen a significant event that they will
research in depth. Some topics include;
Bushrangers, Eureka Stockade, Cobb and Co,
the introduction of rail and the expansion of
farming. These will be presented today in the
form of a PowerPoint presentation and a
poster summarising what they have learned.
In English, we are continuing to experiment
with different types of texts. Over the last few
weeks, we will explore varieties of poetry,
reading and recreating famous poems and
writing our own. So far, we have looked at the
structure of acrostic and haiku poetry. Below
are some student’s work for you to enjoy.
Acrostic poem
‘Summer’ by Ruby Whitby
Sun shines over the ocean.
Umbrella up in the sun.
Moving through the hot sand.
Multiple ice-creams melting.
Eating ice-cream all the time.
Resting in the sun.
Haiku poems
‘Autumn’ by Tane
Leaves changing colours,
Leaves falling onto the green grass.
Autumn has begun.
‘Spring’ by Harry
Deer munch on lush grass,
Willow trees flood across river banks,
Birds tweet in green trees.

Have a safe and happy holiday, See you all
next term.
Mrs Ferris
2/3 students have had a very enjoyable
fortnight in the classroom! They have been
experimenting in science with melting and
freezing items learning how to make
predictions for the outcome if a frozen item is
left out in the warmth for too long. 2/3 were
fortunate to see this happen using ice cream!
Very messy but fun lesson.
In history we have been learning about life of
children in the 1800s and comparing it to the
life we have now. I think students are grateful
to be living in society now and not in the
1800s.
In Mathematics students have been learning
about the time, especially how to tell the time
on digital and analogue clocks. If possible try
and assist your child to tell you the time at
home especially quarter past and quarter to.
We are extremely pleased and excited to see
so many students taking home new readers

each week! Reading is an important skill and
taking a small amount of time each day to read
a book is beneficial to our learning. We still do
it as adults! Our only ask is that we would like
to see the books returned back to the
classroom so others can enjoy it after you
have finished with it.
From all of 2/3 and the teachers we wish you
all a lovely and relaxing break and look
forward to the coming semester!

Hello everyone from our classroom, where we are busy fishing off all the end of the term things. This term we have worked hard and achieved a lot – well done to all of Kinder and Year 1!
We have been talking about healthy lunches and ‘nude food,’ in an attempt to cut down our waste at school. Look at these healthy lunch boxes! There are lots of great ideas for school lunches on the “Live Life well at School” website.
Our tennis sessions with James are lots of fun. We had our final session on Tuesday. We have all learned a lot and improved so much! We look forward to our next Sporting Schools activity in Term 3!
On Tuesday, we also celebrated NAIDOC week at school, participating in a variety of activities including making a plaited friendship
