OzHarvest
Please remind your child(ren) to not take food
from the OzHarvest shelf at school, however we
strongly encourage parents to call by and grab
what they need.
Tree Removal
This week trees being removed all throughout
the back of the school and this will continue into
next week. There are plans to replace the lost
trees once the area has been cleaned up and is
safe. Stay tuned for more plans in the future.
We are also having many of the fences being
replaced around the school that were damaged
earlier in the year.
School Cleaning
The school continues to be cleaned twice a day,
in the middle of the day and after school.
Regards
Daniel Roe

Principal’s Message
Award Winners — Term 2
Congratulations
Dear Parents and Carers,
School Expectations
School expectations are being taught and
reinforced everyday at our morning assem-
blies. Students who have challenges follow-
ing the school expectations/rules will be sup-
ported with additional lessons to build their
skills.
Bucket Filling
We are strongly encouraging students to be
more respectful of each other. Specifically
we are getting students to be more reflective
in what they say to each other and when
they say it. Students have listen to the
amazing book "Have You Filled a Bucket
Today?" and understand the importance of
being a bucket filler not a bucket dipper. Ask
your child about the book's message.

Hello everyone from our classroom, where we
have been busy with assessments for our mid
-year reports, as well as continuing to learn,
have fun and play. We are so busy that the
weeks seem to be flying by!
We have been talking about how we can be
respectful when at school and here are some
of the great sentences Kindergarten children
wrote.
•Aroha: I can be respectful by doing what I
am told.
•Eve: I can be respectful by looking after the
•computers.
•Golda: I can be respectful by helping other
people and my sister.
•Kyra: I can be respectful by being kind to
everyone at school.
•Laith: I can be respectful by being kind to my
friends.
•Lorenzo: I can be respectful when I look after
animals.

Last week we played some traditional
Indigenous games as part of Reconciliation
Week. We enjoyed them because they in-
volved a range of physical skills in a fun, non-
competitive way. Our favourites were turi turi
(a skipping game), gitja (a tag game), chuboo-
chuboo (a throwing and catching game) and
koabangan (a hiding game).
Congratulations to all of our fabulous home
readers! Well done to Golda for 40, Eve for 50,
Mikaelah for 120, Maddison for 130, Zalia and
Braedyn for 140 and Lorenzo for 190 fantastic
home readers. Wonderful work, everyone!
Special congratulations to our award winners
from the last two weeks!

and asking for help when needed);

thinking creatively to solve problems) and
•Lorenzo – Active and Informed Citizen (for
participating happily in all school activities).
Have a great week everyone. Please see us if
you have any problems or queries.
From Mrs Hobbis, Kinder and Year 1
As part of National Reconciliation Week,
students participated in a range of activities
and lessons to acknowledge this important
event in Australia's calendar. Students in
Years 2 – 6 have discovered the talents of
Baker Boy, and Indigenous rap artist, who
creates original hip-hop songs incorporating
his native language of the Yolngu Matha lan-
guage. The students investigated why Baker
Boy has chosen to release music that fea-
tures both English and traditional Yolngu
Matha language, and the student's reactions
are below. We discussed how Baker Boy has
made a powerful choice to share his
Indigenous language as it helps to represent
his culture, heritage and beliefs and assist in
the reconciliation movement in Australia.

2/3/4 Classroom News
The 456 class have been examining Change
as a concept. Last week the students came
up with ideas about how to influence change
in our society. Each student developed their
idea and wrote a script that they used to
create a Flipgrid video about their idea.
Some of the ideas the students came up with
were to recycle batteries, protect wildlife
communities, support the homeless, collect
litter, perform acts of kindness and take more
exercise. Please check these out via your
student’s Google log in.
This week they have been discovering the
history of changes in technology from farming
to fashion to food and drink. They are
producing timelines of inventions to help
others understand the evolution of life and the
tools we use.
My learning groups have been exploring the
use similes to enhance their writing. They
have also produced work based on emotions
such as Joy, Excitement and Disgust. In
Maths, students have been struggling to
grasp the tricky trading with subtraction and
are starting a unit on Time. Any support from
home to back up these concepts is always
appreciated.
Cheers
