OverviewIntroductionQuantum View is a portfolio of services designed to provide increased visibility into the movement of goods. Visibility can help you improve the per-formance of virtually every function in your busi-ness — customer service, sales, accounts receivable,inventory management and more. The QuantumView portfolio includes Quantum ViewSM Data,Quantum View NotifySM and Quantum ViewSM

Manage.

Quantum View Manage:Quantum View Manage is a Web-based applicationthat enables multiple users within your organizationto quickly and easily view, download, and share up-to-date information about the status of all yourUPS shipments from any computer connected to the Internet. There is no charge to use QuantumView Manage.

Quantum View Data:Quantum View Data is ideal for businesses that want to integrate visibility information into internalsoftware applications and databases. It provides you with hourly updates about your inbound andoutbound packages in a secure Web environment.Files are available in popular data formats such as CSV, flat file or XML for easy importing.

Important:

All information contained within Quantum View Manageis confidential and proprietaryinformation, which is the propertyof UPS. As a result, the QuantumView Manage Company Admin-istrator for which you requestaccess must be an employee of the company (or its subsidiaries).

Quantum View Notify:Quantum View Notify can be used by anyone using an automated UPS or UPS-compatible shipping system. This proactive e-mail service allows you to send and receive critical package updates from UPS.

The Quantum View Manage User Guide is a convenient step-by-step reference that will help you manage your business more effectively.

System RequirementsTo access Quantum View Manage, you will need acomputer connected to the Internet. Quantum ViewManage is compatible with Netscape® Navigator®

versions 4.7 through 6.2 and Microsoft® InternetExplorer version 4.0 with Service Pack 2 (Active Xenabled), and higher.

EnrollmentYou will need to assign a Company Administratorfor the Quantum View program. They will be thepoint of contact for the UPS Account Executive for setting up and maintaining your account.

The Company Administrators will have visibility on all UPS account numbers or locations that wereprovided to your Account Executive at the time you enrolled. Quantum View users will have access to only the account numbers or locations assigned to them by the Company Administrator. To add any additional UPS account numbers or locations for visibility within Quantum View Manage, theCompany Administrator should contact the UPSAccount Executive for assistance.

Logging InUpon enrollment, the Company Administrator willreceive two separate e-mails containing a link to the Quantum View Manage site:

• The first provides your User ID

• The second provides your temporary password

Note:

When you log in for the first time,you will be required to agree to the UPS Terms and Conditions forQuantum View and for My UPS.

This creates a single ID andpassword for both Quantum View and UPS.com.®

You will be prompted to changeyour temporary password on yourfirst login.

Remember: User IDs and pass-words are case sensitive. Plusmultiple failed attempts to log inwill cause your ID to be locked out for a period of 20 minutes.

Each additional user that the Company Administrator addswill also receive two e-mails. See the Quantum View Manageand Data Administrators’ Guide for additional information.

If you forget your password, click on the Forgot User ID orPassword on the login page for Quantum View. You will besent a temporary password to the registered e-mail address.

Once you log in for the first time, click the link at the bottomof the Welcome page to Set Preferences.

Setting PreferencesSetting Preferences allows you to view your information in a specific format each time you log on. You can choose any of the standard views or create a custom view as yourdefault. Custom Views are discussed in later sections.

You can also change how many days of viewable data youwant to see within Outbound, Inbound and Alternate Billing. You can view up to 45 days. Unless you change yourpreferences, the system will default to 7 days.

It is important for you to set a preference for the Time Zone.Selecting a zone from the drop down will determine when the e-mail alerts that you have scheduled will be sent.

NavigationQuantum View Manage is located under theTracking tab on UPS.com®. The navigation for eachof the Views (Outbound, Inbound, Alternate Billingand Imports) is located in the yellow menu bar onthe left of the screen.

To view your Outbound, Inbound, Alternate Billingand Imports packages, click the appropriate hyper-link in the left navigation bar.

Each of these views provide hyperlinks for AccessCustom Views and Select Alerts (more informationon this functionality in the following pages). Notethat the Imports View provides hyperlinks for AccessCustom Views and Import Resources.

You will also find Set Preference and Search hyper-links in the left navigation bar. For more detailedinformation on these functions, see page 18.

Plus, a comprehensive Help section is available at your fingertips.

You can navigate to other parts of UPS.com at alltimes with the buttons and tabs located in the topportion of your screen.

We strongly encourage you to add Quantum View Manage to your Internet browser’s Favorites(Internet Explorer) or Bookmarks (NetscapeNavigator) list in order to quickly navigate and find the Quantum View Manage login screen.

ViewsQuantum View Manage provides four standard viewsto see shipment data:

• Outbound• Inbound• Alternate Billing• Imports

Although there are specific details for each, whichwill be outlined in the following pages, the basiclayout for each view is very similar. However,Outbound, Inbound and Alternate Billing providedetailed transportation information at the Packagelevel. Imports provides detailed brokerage infor-mation at the Shipment level.

Each page will provide the following:

• Days Displayed — Date range of shipmentsdisplaying based upon user preferences

• Days Availabe for Viewing — Number of days that historical shipment data is available

• Last Update — Time and Date of the view that was last updated

• Filter Packages By — Filter function so you cansearch for specific packages (more detail on thefollowing pages)

Hint:

Those items that are hyperlinked(appear in blue and underlined) on your screen indicate your abilityto see further package detail.

• Summary View — Total number of your packages in thesystem by Account Number for the displayed date range.

OutboundOutbound reflects a summary of all packages thatare manifested to your account for a period of up to45 calendar days.

The Outbound Summary displays the total numberof packages by UPS Account Number and then bythe delivery status, such as:

• Manifests/Voids — Packages that have not enteredthe UPS network

• In Transit — Packages in the UPS network

• Out for Delivery — Packages delivering to the final destination

• Exceptions — Packages awaiting clarificationbefore final delivery can be made

• Delivered — Packages that have reached their finaldestination

• Total Packages — Total number of packages listedin the categories above by account number and by status

For greater visibility into all of your packages, selectthe button. A list of all packages in thesystem by tracking number (1Z) will display andinclude the following data elements:

• Tracking Number/Package Reference Number 1

• Package Weight/Status

Note:

If you click the Tracking Number(1Z) which is hyperlinked (blueand underlined), you can view evengreater detail about your packageincluding the Package Progress.

If your package volume exceedsthe limit that can be displayed,narrow your search by filtering orselecting a link from the Summarysection.

InboundInbound reflects the summary of those packagesshipped by your vendors or suppliers in which youare the recipient. Packages are viewed by the sched-uled delivery date consisting of seven future and upto 45 historical dates. This does not include Sundaysas UPS does not deliver packages on Sunday.

The Inbound Summary displays the total number ofpackages by location and then by the delivery date.

For greater visibility into all of your packages, selectthe button. A list of all packages in thesystem by tracking number (1Z) will display andinclude the following data elements:

• Tracking Number/Package Reference Number 1

• Package Weight/Status

• Manifest Date/Scheduled Delivery Date

• UPS Service

• Shipper Name/City/State/Province/Country

• Exception Description (if applicable)

Note:

By clicking on any Location link on the Summary, you may reviewInbound packages that havealready been delivered to thatparticular location.

Visibility of PLD CompliantReturn Services created within the past 45 calendar days are nowavailable in the Inbound ReceivingAddress View.

• Location ID

• Package Status

Alternate Billing Alternate Billing reflects a summary of those pack-ages that are sent by others on your behalf and billedto your UPS Account Number. The viewable pack-ages are those that have been manifested to UPS upto the previous 45 calendar days.

The Alternate Billing Summary displays the totalnumber of packages by Bill-To UPS Account Numberand then by the following:

• Third-Party

• Freight Collect

• Consignee Billing (U.S. Only)

• Total Number of Packages

For greater visibility into all of your packages, selectthe button. A list of all packages in the system by tracking number (1Z) will display andinclude the following data elements:

• Tracking Number/Package Reference Number 1

• Package Weight/Status

• Manifest Date/Scheduled Delivery Date

• UPS Service

• Shipper Name/City/State/Province/Country

• Ship to Name/City/State/Province/Country

ImportsView Imports reflects those shipments that are imported into the United States for up to 45 calen-dar days. Please note that this view is different as itdisplays information at the shipment level instead of the package level.

The Import Shipments Summary displays the totalnumber of packages by UPS Importer Account Numberand then by the following:

• Number of Shipments• Transportation Charges• Total Duties• Total Taxes• Total Fees

For greater visibility into all of your shipments, the standard Imports Detail includes the followingdata elements:

• UPS Importer Account Number• Entry Date• Lead Tracking Number• Customs Control Number• Images• Export Country• Shipper Name• Customs Entry Type• Transportation Charges• Total Duties• Total Taxes• Total Fees

Displayed From and To dateranges default to the date rangecurrently displayed in the view.This date range can be adjusted to represent any of the availablehistory dates. Adjust the From and To dates to the desired rangeand select Go to update thedisplayed set of data.

Package DetailThe following provides direction on the informationprovided in the Detail table for Outbound, Inboundand Alternate Billing Views.

The Detail table for Imports differs slightly. For de-tailed instructions go to the Imports section, page 21.

The Package Detail information can be viewed byclicking on the Tracking hyperlink within any view.

This view provides over 80 different data elements,which can be downloaded or e-mailed for historicalpurposes (more information on the following pages).

On Package Detail, you can View Package Progress.This allows you to see how your package has traveledthrough the UPS system.

To View:

• Click on the hyperlink View Package Progress

• Package movements will be added at the bottom of your screen

From the Package Progress view, you can receiveProof of Delivery (POD) information.

To View:

• Follow the instructions for View Package Progress(right)

• Click on the hyperlink Proof of Delivery

Package Detail

• A window will open if there is any availableinformation

• To print this information, select File from the top menu

Note:

Proof of Delivery will only beavailable once a package has been delivered.

FiltersFilters are available in all the views (Outbound,Inbound, Alternate Billing and Imports). We dis-cussed the filter criteria options available for eachview in the “Views” section, pages 6-10.

Filter Packages By1. Select the filter from the pull-down menu beneath

Filter Packages By and select .

As you refine your display results, your navigation is tracked through a Filter Path. Within any view, the Filter Path is available. The Filter Path showsactive links of how your displayed results have been filtered and allows you to navigate backward.

To Apply a Filter1. Select a filter type in the Filter Packages By

drop-down menu on the main view.

2. Select .

3. Select the filter values you want to include in yourview. By default, all options are viewable, withSelect All and Clear All buttons at the top of thelist. When selecting a filter, you have the choice to deselect an option to refine your view. You willonly see filter values that are applicable to yourcurrent data.

4. Select .

Note:

All filter values are dynamicallygenerated based on currentinformation. You will only seeinformation that actually pertainsto your current packages in theUPS system.

You now have the ability to filterby PLD Compliant Return Servicefor Outbound, Inbound ReceivingAddress and Alternate Billing.

Once a filter is selected, theFilter Path to the right of the

button will updateshowing all filters applied. Toadd additional filters, repeatthe process.

DownloadYou can download and save information from all the views (Outbound, Inbound, Alternate Billing and Imports).

Download and Save Information1. Select the Download link under the Detail box.

2. Select Save from the File Download box.

3. Select a location where you will save the CSV fileon your computer.

4. Save the file with the default name or with yourchosen file name.

The file name is defaulted to the view name and the current date (MMDDYY).

Data elements in the CSV file are organizedconsistent with your view.

Hint:

You may want to set up a folder on your hard drive to save futuredownloads.

E-mailYou can e-mail information from all the views(Outbound, Inbound, Alternate Billing and Imports)at any time. The E-Mail link is next to the Downloadlink in the Detail box.

E-mail Package Information1. Select the E-mail link in the Detail box.

2. Select as many as 20 packages to include in your e-mail from the E-mail Package Detail screen.

3. Select .

The next screen allows you to:

• Enter up to three e-mail recipients• Type a message of up to 150 characters• Indicate whether you want to be notified

if there is a failure in e-mail delivery

The e-mail will come from a UPS e-mail account and will contain those data elements found on the page that you chose to e-mail.

Alternately, you may e-mail details about a specificpackage. From the Package Detail screen, select thee-mail link at the top of the page.

Hint:

Before you send an e-mail,perform all desired filtering. That way, the e-mail package list will be greatly reduced.

Important:

Proof of Delivery, includingsignature, cannot be e-mailed.

Custom ViewsThe following provides direction on creatingcustomized views of the detail table for Outbound,Inbound and Alternate Billing Views.

Customized views for Imports differ slightly. For detailed instructions go to the Imports section,page 21.

Create a Custom ViewCustom View allows you to create regular views andreports with just the specific packages and information(data elements) that you need on a regular basis.

1. Select the view you want to customize —Outbound, Inbound, Alternate Billing — by clicking the left navigation bar.

2. Select Access Custom Views.

3. Select Create New Custom View.

4. Select the criteria for the type of packages youwant to view.

• Use drop down to change information to singlechoices.

• If multiple choices are necessary within acriteria, click on the hyperlink with the bluearrow “Multiple...”

7. Choose the Package Elements you want to see in your view by pushing them to the right of the screen with the button. Remove anypackage elements you do not want to see in yourcustomized view by pushing them to the left ofthe screen with the button.

8. View your custom view in the Preview section at the bottom of the screen.

9. Select .

10. The results of your Custom View with theSummary and Detail tables are displayed. To view the criteria used to create your Custom View, click on View Criteria. To edit, click on Edit Criteria.

Note:

The order of the elements in theincluded box will be the order inwhich your columns appear. Youcan change the order by usingthe and .You can see how your view willlook at the preview section belowthe elements list.

The tracking number is the onlydata element that allows you toview package details, therefore we suggest that you ALWAYS keep it in your view.

SearchYou can Search for a particular package or group of packages by data elements if you do not know the tracking number. This function can be used withall the views (Outbound, Inbound, Alternate Billingand Imports).

Search for a Particular Package or Number of Packages1. Select Search.

2. Indicate the view you would like to search by using the drop-down menu.

Setting AlertsYou can be proactively notified via e-mail that yourpackages or shipments have Exceptions or DeliveryConfirmations. Alerts are set by Account Number or Location.

Each of the views (Outbound, Inbound, AlternateBilling and Imports) has specific types of alerts thatcan be set. Import Alerts are viewable under theInbound and Alternate Billing Views.

Below are explanations of each type and a chart summarizing which are available for each view.

Exception Alert:We'll notify you each time an exception occurs thatchanges the scheduled delivery date of a package.

Shipment Registered Alert:We will notify you when your U.S. imports ship-ments have been registered with the governmentclearing agencies.

Shipment Released Alert:We will notify you when your U.S. imports ship-ments have been released for delivery by the gov-ernment clearing agencies.

Delivery Confirmation Alert:Choose a scheduled daily alert time and we willnotify you of all packages delivered within the past24 hours.

Note:

In selecting all alerts, up to threerecipients are eligible to receiveeach type of notification.

Clearance Exception Alert:We will notify you each time an exception occurs that changes the scheduled delivery date of a package clearing U.S. Customs.

Clearance Exception Resolution Alert:We will notify you once a clearance exception has beenresolved.

Duties Alert:We will notify you once the duties for your U.S. importshipments have been scheduled for payment by UPS.

Set Alerts1. Select the View (Outbound, Inbound, Alternate

Billing and Imports) from the left navigation.

2. Select Select Alerts.

3. Click on the appropriate check box for the Alertsyou want to receive.

4. Select Edit (hyperlinked) to enter a recipient’s e-mail address.

5. A pop-up window will appear. Enter the recipient’se-mail address, select language preference andclick .

6. You return to the main screen, Click .

Failure Notification

By default, Quantum View Manage will notify you if a problem is encountered with one of the recipiente-mail addresses with a Failure Notification. If youdo not wish to be notified when there is a problemwith a recipient e-mail address, uncheck the box next to Send notification of e-mail address failure.

Import Custom ViewsYou can create and save a customized view of importshipment information that is tailored to meet yourspecific needs. Saved Import Customs Views canthen be set as the default display page under the SetPreferences section so you can access this informa-tion quickly.

Create a New Import Custom View 1. Select View Imports then Access Custom Views.

2. Select Create New Custom View.

3. Select the criteria for the type of shipments you want to view.

• Use the drop down to change information to single choices.

• Many of the data elements allow you to make a single choice or you can select the Show Allhyperlink.

4. To save your view for future use, enter a nameunder Save View.

5. To view shipments you selected with standarddata elements (as displayed on the Detail table),choose .

When choosing multiple UPS Importer AccountNumbers, hold the Control Key while selecting.

When defining date ranges, the General Date Rangeis recommended for saved Custom Views since ExactDate Ranges may become outdated.

When selecting an Import Port, only the 10 mostcommonly used UPS import ports are displayed for individual import port selection.

6. On the Define Elements for Detail Display screen,you may customize the Detail display by adding or removing data elements.— Three types of import data elements are

available: shipment information, invoiceinformation and commodity information.

— All three types of information can be mixedtogether. However, merging shipment informa-tion, invoice information and/or commodityinformation can result in a one-to-many rela-tionship, which can result in repeating data.

7. Choose the data elements you want to see in yourview by pushing them from the Available sectionto the Included box with the button.Remove any data elements you do not want to see in the Included box by moving the elementsback to the Available section with the button.

8. Change the order of the elements in the Includedbox by using and . Theorder of the elements in the Included box will be the order in which your columns appear.

The list of Available Package Elementsdisplayed in the Available box is asso-ciated to the data elements available by the selected View type. (i.e., Whenthe Shipment view type is selected, thedisplayed available data elements will be at the shipment level. The same forInvoice and Commodity views).

Select the shipment’s View Image link to view the shipment’s document images.

Click on any shipment’s Lead TrackingNumber to drill into additional informa-tion regarding a particular shipment. This action will direct you to the ship-ment’s Import Shipment Detail page.

Online Document Images — Shipment ImagesYou can view shipment images associated to one or more UPS Importer Account Numbers for last 12 months (July 1, 2004 forward). Images areavailable for new shipments once the shipment is matched to a UPS Importer Account Number.

1. Select the Get Shipment Images hyperlink.

2. Select the criteria for the type of images you wantto view.

• Use the drop down to change information to single choices.

• Many of the data elements allow you to make a single choice or you can select the Show Allhyperlink.

3. Select .4. To view an image, click on any of the hyperlinked

information (blue and underlined).

Note:

When defining date ranges, youcan select any block of 31 days (or fewer) within the last 12calendar months.

All document types will not be available for all entry types. For example, a CF 7501 (EntrySummary) document will not beavailable for most informal entries.

5. To download multiple images, select the checkbox next to the image files you want to downloadand select Download.

• If the combined size of the images you are down-loading is less than 5 MB, you are prompted fora location to download the files.

• If the combined size of the files to be down-loaded exceeds 5 MB, individual Zip files arecreated that are 5 MB or less in size. A page is displayed listing these Zip files.

• Each Zip file must then be individually down-loaded by selecting the Download link in therow with the file name.

Upload Product CatalogThe Upload Product Catalog functionality will helpensure accurate and consistent classification of allyour imported goods.

To upload a product catalog:1. Select the Upload a Product Catalog hyperlink.

2. Ensure that the prepopulated contact informationis correct.

3. Identify which UPS Importer Account Numbersyou would like to associate with the uploadedproduct catalog data.

4. Include a message if desired.

GlossaryFor Outbound, Inbound and Alternate Billing Views.Import View Glossary can be found on page 40.

UPS Account Number — An account numberassigned by UPS to a shipper for billing purposes.

Alerts — Notifications sent by e-mail informing you of confirmed deliveries and exceptions.

Alternate Billing View — Allows user to view up to 45 calendar days’ worth of package statusinformation for all shipments billed via FreightCollect, Consignee Billing or Third Party. Summarydata and/or package level detail is available for up to 99 UPS account numbers.

Bill-To Account Number — The account number a shipment is billed to.

Consignee Billing — An alternative billing option in which UPS bills shipping charges to the consignee.UPS accepts shipments for Consignee Billing as longas the consignee has a valid UPS account numberand has agreed to accept the charges. This is acontractual service for high-volume receivers.

Date Delivered — The date of confirmed delivery.

Delivered — The number of packages confirmed for delivery.

Delivery Confirmation Alerts — A scheduled daily e-mailnotification containing an aggregated view of all deliveriesin the last 24 hours. Each e-mail will contain up to 25 delivered packages. You will be required to choose a scheduled time to receive daily notifications.

Exception Alert — An e-mail notification sent each timean exception occurs that changes the scheduled deliverydate for any given package.

Exception Description — A description explaining the reason for a rescheduled delivery.

Exception Resolution — A description of the resolveddelivery actions as a result of the rescheduled delivery.

Exceptions — The number of packages delayed, resulting in a change of the original scheduled delivery date.

Filter — Allows you to refine your display results.

Filter Path — Shows active links for how your displayedresults have been filtered and allows you to navigatebackward.

Freight Collect — UPS bills shipping charges to thereceiver.

In Transit — The number of packages within UPS’spossession.

Package Status — Delivered, Exception, In Transit,Manifest, Void.

Scheduled Delivery Date — The date of scheduled delivery.

Ship To Name — The name of the recipient to whom yourshipment is being sent.

Ship To Address — The address where your shipment is being sent.

Ship To City/State — The city and state where yourshipment is being sent.

Shipment Charge Type — Freight Collect, Pre-paid, Third Party Billing.

Shipper Name and Address — The name and address of the party processing the package for shipment.

Signed By — Name of the recipient who received and signed for delivery.

Status — The status of a package’s movement within the UPS system (i.e., In Transit, Manifest, Delivered).

Third-Party — The number of packages outsourced to another company hired to manage your supply chain.

Tracking Number — A number automatically assigned to your package by UPS to identify and trace its move-ment through the UPS system to its destination.

UPS Service — Inclusive of all domestic and internationalUPS services.

Weight — The weight of the package in pounds.

Glossary — Imports ViewImporter — The person, firm or representative towhom a seller or shipper sent merchandise and who,upon presentation of the necessary documents, isrecognized as the owner of the merchandise for thepurpose of Custom’s duties.

Importer of Record — Individual, corporation orpartnership designated as the legally responsibleparty for customs entries. The Importer of Recordpays all duties and assumes all legal liabilities.

Imports View — Allows users to view up to 45 calendar days of brokerage shipment data forU.S. imports matched to your small-package UPSImporter Account Number(s). Summary data and/orshipment-, invoice- and commodity-level detail datais available for up to 99 UPS Importer AccountNumbers.

Invoice — The standard documentation prepared by the shipper to itemize and describe the contentsand value of a shipment. The commercial invoiceserves as the basis for the preparation of all otherdocuments covering the shipment.

Product Catalog — A listing of commodities alongwith their associated commodity descriptions,Harmonized Tariff Codes, and Countries of Originthat could be imported for a particular importer. The product catalog is used as a reference whenassigning classification to an importer’s commodities.

Ship Date — The day that the package is tendered to UPS and begins the journey to its destination.

Ship To — The consignee or location where the shipment is being sent.

Shipment — A shipment represents packages or articlesshipped together.

Sold To — “Sold To” information is frequently identified as the “Bill To” or purchaser listed on the invoice.
