Question 5: How did you attract/address your audience? I have used subtle colours for my magazine, I think this will be more appealing to my 16-24 age range, than bright colours or pinks and purples, like a Childs magazine would use. Although, I have decided to use a brighter blue in a bold font to catch the eye of the audience. My main image is a clear shot of my whole band, I think this allows my audience to see the whole band and get a first impression of it, unlike one with just their faces. My band is being shown as new upcoming band, so not many people will know about them/ their genre of music, for example, unlike Coldplay on NME magazine. People know Coldplay are a hugely successful band and most people know the bands genre of music and will be able to identify Chris Martin I have dressed my band in clothes that most of my readers can indentify with, for example, the checked shirts worn by Bertie and Dennis plus the cardigan that Taz is wearing, are in fashion at the moment, along with the hat that Georgia has on. I have put other bands that feature in the magazine on the top and bottom of the page, so it will attract readers who are familiar with these bands. Banners like these, have appeared on NME By having ‘Open up about everything’ on the front page, it will attract their fans and others who don’t know a lot about them, and are curious. I have included a competition for readers to see Kings Of Leon, who as a worldwide known band, will attract many people to the magazine.

People know Coldplay are a hugely successful band and most people know the bands genre of music and will be able to identify Chris Martin

I have dressed my band in clothes that most of my readers can indentify with, for example, the checked shirts worn by Bertie and Dennis plus the cardigan that Taz is wearing, are in fashion at the moment, along with the hat that Georgia has on.

I have put other bands that feature in the magazine on the top and bottom of the page, so it will attract readers who are familiar with these bands. Banners like these, have appeared on NME magazine.

By having ‘Open up about everything’ on the front page, it will attract their fans and others who don’t know a lot about them, and are curious.

I have included a competition for readers to see Kings Of Leon, who as a worldwide known band, will attract many people to the magazine.

Question 5: How did you attract/address your audience?

I have put in a box, the amount it is to subscribe to my magazine, it is priced at £2.50 a week, so by having a deal for £7 a month, will attract to students who don’t have lots of money to spare but enjoy magazines. These are seen in most magazines, like NME and Q.

I have included a banner for a Gig Guide of 2013, which most of my audience will benefit from. Gigs and Festivals are popular for teenagers and young adults.

Typically used in most magazines, I have a quick article on my main band live. This can attract new and existing fans to see them live if they get good reviews . Articles like this are seen in NME magazine.

I have included many pictures of the band, so show different sides too them. Some are laughing are one is more serious. This shows the audience that the band are out to have a good time and are down to earth.

In my content page I have a ‘Band Index’ this is so you can go straight to your preferred band without having to flick though all the pages. Seen in NME.

You can see clearly what is seen as the main articles to read this week in my magazine. It is set out in an easy to use order under headings, this will make it easier for the reader s to read want they want. I haven’t put every single page down, as not everything in my magazine will be what everyone will want to read

I have included a small part to show the audience what is featured every week, for example, competitions, word searches and letters.

My heading is the same as on the front cover, bold and in a bright blue, along with ‘THIS WEEK’ which is also in bold, it’s simple and easy for my audience to read .

Question 5: How did you attract/address your audience

Introduces my readers to the band A caption that the audience can relate with, ‘We acted like teenagers and done teenage stuff, we’re not going to pretend’ this make the interview more personal, which the audience will like.

Caption shows a funny side to the band, that they are still just in their teens are like everyone else.

Main picture is far more serious than the ones shown on the content page, showing that even though they’re here for a good time, they do seriously want to be successful, not just famous and rich. A head shot is quite common in professional magazines. For example, this one of The Vaccines.

The text is easy and simple to read throughout.

I’ve highlighted Georgia Smith’s name as she is the most important member of the band, and what is said in my introduction comes from her. I have also highlighted the caption most readers will want to read about.

Page numbers so readers know what page they’re looking for

Last piece of writing is a sum up of the band, and tells people they are touring with Coldplay which could attract new fans and existing fans to go catch them live.
