HOTEL&SPA IN ALAIZ'S QUARRY, NAVARRA Alaiz's quarrys, placed in the ¿municipo?of Tiebas-Muruarte de Reta, are actually being exploted by Cementos Portland for the extraction of ¿arid? rock. The exercise is

placed in a future situation in which the explotation of the quarry would have stopped, and a new used would be needed.The intervention is planned with great concern about the outstanding dimensions of the quarry in relation with the architectonic object. The concepts of repetition andmateriality are used to deal with the main problem of the scale. The result is a structure of steel ¿porticos? of different sizes, that are repeated every 2.5 meters,generating at the same time the underground space for the spa and the hotel's facilities and the 3 towers containing the rooms.

MIX-USED BUILDING IN PAMPLONA, NAVARRA The exercise asked for a reflexion on how the ground was being used in Pamplona and on the posibilities of density building in a low size city. The issue was to introduce

100.000 square meters of housing, hotels, offices, malls, cafeterys and restaurants in an small place sited in a residential hood of the cityThe tower and basement scheme was used to offer to each part of the program the best conditions . In the one hand the housing and hotel program was placed in a ligeratower that would be aligned north-to-south seeking the best orientation and views. In the other hand, the public program was placed in the basement that would incorporatea 45 degrees turn in realtion to the place geometry bringing more dinamism to the new public space created in the low ground floor.

SOCIAL HOUSING AND SPORT FACILITIES IN HUESCA, SPAIN (CONTEST 1º PRIZE)The site of the contest wasa devastated area in the east of the city, caracterized for the different caracter of its limits: in the north the main access road to the city and in thesouth the Isuela river, gave to the site a very irregular geomtry that should be resolved in the project. The program consisted basically in public housing and sports facilitiesfor the new and old habitants of the city.The porpose was found in an strategic to resolve site's geometry consisting in a regular trama that would allow to resolve the both borders. This trama would be filled withresidential volumes of different forms, big towers in the north, to protect the site from the traffic's noise and polution; and lower volumes in the central space. The publicspace and the sport facilities where placed in a topographical way in its aproximation to the river side.

Las canteras de Alaiz son unas canteras de extracción de roca tipo árido,pertenecientes al grupo Cementos Portland que se encuentran situadas en elmunicipio navarro de Tiebas- Muruarte de Reta. El proyecto plantea intervenir enellas en una situación futura en la que los trabajos de extracción se hayanparalizado.

La intervención se plantea teniendo muy en cuenta la desmesurada escala de lacantera en relación al objeto arquitectonico. Fundamentándose en los conceptosde repetición y materialidad la propuesta consiste en una estructura de pórticosde acero de diferentes vanos y luces, que se repiten cada 2.5 metros, generandotanto el espacio enterrado destinado al Spa y a los espacios públicos del hotel,como los 3 cuerpos verticales que contienen las habitaciones.
