RATHDOWNEY
COMPANY OVERVIEW
Rathdowney’s subsidiary, Rathdowney Polska, has acquired two exploration licences, and has applied for a third licence, with a total area of 150 square km in the Upper Silesian Zinc District of Poland, a world class district of Mississippi Valley lead-zinc deposits. These properties contain substantial historical resources of zinc and lead an hour’s drive north of the Pomerzany-Olkusz-Boleslaw cluster of mines. These long-life mines operated by State mining company ZGHB have produced some 200 million tonnes of ore grading 4% zinc and 2% lead in the post World War II period. Rathdowney has completed detailed planning for pioneering geophysical (gradient-array Induced Polarization) surveys and aggressive confi rmatory drilling (40,000 metres) on its new exploration licences which is planned to start in Q1 2011.
Rathdowney’s Irish subsidiary has assembled a highly prospective portfolio of ground covering 1,600 square km in the Irish Midlands ore province in Ireland. The package comprises over 50 exploration licences clustered into eight project-areas where Rathdowney’s exploration team has generated 41 exploration drill targets from extensive soil geochemical (more than 20,000 samples) and highly focused airborne geophysical surveys.
INVESTMENT HIGHLIGHTS
Poland
Outstanding portfolio of brownfi eld exploration projects in historic mining area with excellent infrastructure including a smelter with excess capacity just one hour’s drive from the project-area
Historic work, including approximately 137,000 metres of drilling (replacement value of C$40 million), indicates the presence of substantial zinc-lead deposits on Rathdowney’s exploration licenses
Targeted program pioneering gradient-array Induced Polarization geophysical surveys to refi ne and expand targets, followed by 40,000 metres of confi rmatory drilling
Ireland
The Irish Ore Field is one of the world’s most intensely mineralised zinc districts
Highly prospective exploration projects and drill-ready targets, in six prioritized project-areas straddling proven mineralizing trends
Planned program includes 15,000 metres of drilling to test 41 targets
Rathdowney’s focus is fi nding and developing the next generation of zinc deposits in the world-class ore fi elds of Poland and Ireland.

POLAND
The Upper Silesian Zinc District of Poland is a world-class district of Mississippi Valley-type (MVT) lead-zinc deposits, continuously mined since the 12th century. Historic production is reliably estimated at some 16 million tonnes of zinc and 4 million tonnes of lead and current resources are estimated in excess of 500 million tonnes of mineralized rock with grades between 3-5% zinc. Rathdowney is attracted by the compelling investment opportunity to develop a major new mining complex based on the very high potential for substantial zinc reserves and resources close to a zinc smelter which depends for zinc-concentrate on the Pomorzany mine which has only a few years of remaining reserves. The MVT mineralization is at shallow depths, for the most part being within 200 metres of the surface. The mineralized lenses form stratabound deposits and are hosted by Middle Triassic dolomites. Despite the long mining tradition, about a dozen signifi cant zinc deposits remain unexploited, mainly in the Zawiercie-Olkusz region, and no modern exploration has been carried out in the area for the last 30 years.
Through its Polish subsidiary Rathdowney Polska, Rathdowney has been granted the Zawiercie and Rokitno exploration licences, and has applied for the Chechlo license, combining a total area of 150 square kilometres, in the most prospective part of the broad Zawiercie ore fi eld. This area, located 60 kilometres northwest of the city of Krakow, encompasses a number of major unexploited deposits with areas of known proven high-grade zinc mineralization based on extensive geological and historical drilling information from Polish State surveys.
LOCATION MAP
The best place to fi nd a new mine is close to an existing mine. All of our project areas lie along highly prospective structural corridors and were selected because they host substantial base metal mineralization identifi ed from earlier exploration campaigns. Several are located
along permissive structures that control the location of current or former operating mines in Poland, such as Pomerzany-Olkusz
and Boleslaw, and in Ireland, such as New Boliden’s Tara Mine at Navan (the fi fth largest zinc mine in the world), Anglo
American’s Lisheen Mine (10th largest), and Lundin’s now closed Galmoy Mine.
Rathdowney’s fi eld program, commencing in early 2011, will initially consist of induced polarization (IP) surveys and confi rmation drilling to confi rm and expand the existing zinc-lead deposits in compliance with NI 43-101 guidelines and also with the objective of outlining and testing new exploration targets in the area.
Rathdowney is collaborating with the local experts, combining decades of experience in zinc exploration and mining in the region, to unlock the substantial unrealized value of this historic zinc-lead mining district.
IRELAND
The Lower Carboniferous carbonate rocks of the Irish Midlands host one of the great ore fi elds of the world. Since 1960, several major zinc and lead deposits have been discovered, including the world class Navan Deposit (resources in excess of 100 Mt). Ireland is ranked fi rst in the world in terms of zinc, and second in the world with respect to lead, discovered per square kilometre. Irish-type zinc-lead deposits are relatively high-grade and metallurgically clean, resulting in relatively lower mining and processing costs per tonne of zinc in concentrate. Hence, they are priority exploration targets.
EXPLORATION PROJECTS
Rathdowney is exploring an area of over 1,600 square kilometres in the Irish Ore Field and is the third largest ground holder in Ireland. Rathdowney’s eight project areas include the priority project-areas of Mallow, Westmeath South, Galway, Laois and Meath. Over the past two years, Rathdowney has collected and analyzed over 20,000 soil samples and commissioned two highly-focused airborne geophysical surveys generating multiple drill-ready targets.
NEW DISCOVERIES CONTINUE TO BE MADE IN IRELAND
New discoveries will not be made without a commitment to exploration and in particular the drill-testing of many targets at the necessary density. After a long hiatus following the discovery of Lisheen in 1990, the drill rigs are turning again in Ireland. As a consequence new discoveries have been made at Kilbreckin, not far from Rathdowney’s Galway Block, and at Monaster and Pallas Green.
