BUILDING SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES

corporate solutions

What is Recipro?

Recipro has been created to provide a solution for construction surplus. As an industry, construction is the largest producer of waste in the UK, creating 90 million tonnes of waste every year. Inevitably, a proportion of this waste is brand new material which is surplus to requirement. Recipro was created to provide a solution for this surplus.

Launched in 2008, Recipro provides a range of services to all levels of the construction supply chain, providing flexible, innovative solutions for surplus and reusable materials that would otherwise be destined for the waste stream.

By using the service, companies can demonstrate:• environmental benefits - reduced waste and carbon• community benefits• cost savings• competitive advantage

13% of all construction material ordered in the

UK is disposed of without ever being used

(EA, 2007)

Drivers for Change

The Cost of WasteAs everyone knows, the cost of waste disposal is only going one way. The Recipro Managed Service offers a cost-effective alternative to waste for surplus and reusable products, with additional environmental and social benefits.

LegislationThe Waste Regulations Act 2011 means that companies must manage waste in line with the ideal waste hierarchy. This places reduction and reuse of waste above recycling in importance and benefit.

Client PressureIn an increasingly competitive world, companies must demonstrate they are providing clients with more for less. Clients want their supply chain to demonstrate their corporate responsibility, from a social and environmental perspective.

‘‘We would like to thank recipro who have helped in providing a sustainable

and cost effective supply of materials for the development of the new, first class

clubhouse for the local community.’’Graeme Atherton, Warrington Rowing Club
