THIS WEEK’S CALENDAR

Parades are supposed to be interesting and entertaining. We hope to see bright colors and big floats. We love the music and dancing.

Sometimes parades can also be educational. They can teach about history and culture. Jesus’ Palm Sunday parade was exciting and educational. It teaches us who He is, how we should treat Him, where His heart is, and why He was arriving to Jerusalem. Come and enjoy Jesus’ parade today. You will leave changed by the Star of the Parade: Jesus!

“Jesus’ Palm Sunday Parade”

Luke 19:26-44

Driving the Word Home “Jesus’ Palm Sunday Parade”

Pastor Bo Brink (Luke 19:26-44)

As you leave the church today and return home, please take the opportunity throughout the week to consider and discuss the following questions based on the sermon and the Gospel reading from Luke.

Monday Why do you think Jesus chose to ride on a donkey and not on a horse? (v. 35) Tuesday What do you think it meant when the people spread their clothes on road ahead of Jesus’ donkey? (v. 36) How can we do that for Jesus today? Wednesday What kind of a king do you think the people recognized Jesus to be? (v. 38) In what ways is Jesus the “King” of your life? Thursday Why do you think the Pharisees were upset that the people were hailing Jesus as the Messianic King? (v. 39-40) Friday Why was Jesus crying over Jerusalem? (v. 41) Would seeing Vegas make Jesus cry too? Why? Saturday Jesus says in v. 42 that the inhabitants of Jerusalem didn’t know what would bring them true peace. What it true peace? Do you have it?

Through the Lord’s Supper, Jesus comes to us and grants us His eternal gifts! As we prepare to receive the Lord’s Supper, God’s Word encourages us to examine ourselves. The following questions can help you as you prepare to receive the Lord and His gifts: 1) Do you believe that you are a sinner whose hope for eternal life comes from

Christ alone? (Romans 3:23-24) 2) Do you believe that Jesus Christ is God’s Son and your Savior? Matt. 16:15-17) 3) Do you believe that Jesus is present in this sacred meal to grant His forgiveness?

(Matthew 26:26-28) 4) Do you, by the power of the Holy Spirit, desire to live a godly life in response to

the Lord’s grace and goodness? (Romans 12:1-2)

Prepare for the Lord’s Supper
