REPORT FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2018-2019

With the inspiring success and outstanding performance in the academic year 2018 -

2019, I feel greatly privileged to present a report encompassing the promising developments and

prominent aspects in a nut shell.

On this day, I record my sincere thanks to our beloved Chairman for his incredible support and

encouragement all through the year; also I express my heartiest gratitude to Thiru R. Veeramani,

Chairman, Gem Group of companies for accepting our invitation to be the Chief Guest of the 21st

Annual Day.

Founder‟s Day :

„Gnanathanthai‟ SSM Subramaniam‟s Birthday is celebrated as Founder‟s Day of our college on

7th

September of every year. This year too, it was celebrated on 9th

September 2018. This year it

was “Aimperum vila” (a Quintet festival.) Celebratation of Founders Day, Inauguration of our

Founder Gnanathanthai‟ SSM Subramaniam‟s Statue, MGR NootranduVizha, a bulding was

named after Dr. M. G. Ramachandran and Celebration of Twentieth year of SSMCE.

Honorable Ministers Thiru Thangamani, K.P. Anbalagan and K.C. Karuppannan were chief

guests of the function and opened the Statue of our Founder and gave away the prizes to the

winners of English and Tamil oratorical competitions. Principal and Head of the departments

offered their felicitations.

SSM STEMSEL ELECTRONICS INNOVATION CENTRE

Established by Our Chairman „Cavalier‟ Dr.M.S.Mathivanan with the Motto of providing

world Class Education at SSM to Foster Innovations in the area Science, Technology,

Engineering to achieve Better Placement & Create Entrepreneurial Environment for the

benefit of Students & the Society.

Australia Royal Adelaide Project Contest.

Entrepreneur Development Cell

Entrepreneur Development Cell of SSMCE is very active and has conducted several

awarenwss program to help students to become a successful Entrepreneur.

Entrepreneur Development Cell of our College has organised one day Seminar on

Native leads, Madurai on 28.08.2018. Mr.Shivarajah, Mr.Omm Sharavana,

Mr.Shanmugasundaram were the guest. 150 Participants attended and benifited out of it.

An awareness program was organised on 12.09.2018 and Dr.Rosy Fernando was the

Guest of Honour. 200 students attended and benifited out of it.

TNSI awareness program by NODAL HUB AURCC, Coimbatore was organised on

11.10.2018Mr. Shiva Shankar , Deputy Director, EDII, Chennai was the chief guest.150

students from various colleges attended the program.

One day seminar on „OWNING YOUR FUTURE‟ was organised on 29.01.2019

Dr.Sulochana Segera, Srilanka. And Mr.S.Ramaprakash, Chief Mgr, SBI, Bhavani were

the Chief guest.300 students attended and benifited out of it

Other Acivities:

Women Grievance and Discipline committee of our college organized a general

awareness programme for all the female students. On this occasion a team was formed

comprising of 15 female students, to represent the issues faced by girls inside the

premises.

Teachers day was celebrated by students in each department.

SSM Community Radio celebrated „World Radio Day‟ on 15.02.2019.

SSM Community Radio has broadcasted a program „Meezhum Arasargal‟ to help

farmers to get their crops insured. The same was published in the Magazine „Young India

for Change‟ November 2018 issue, Odissa.

Listeners meet 2018 was organised with Self Help Groups and NGOs from near by

villages, more than 50 listeners attended the meeting. Dr. Geetha from Erode, Lions club

Secretary and treasurer of Komarapalayam also took part in the meeting.

We are proud to say that SSMCR has been nominated for Sixth National community

Award 2019.

Fox Hunt event was conducted for the club members on 16.03.2018.

Toastmasters club meeting was organised for the first year students on working Saturdays.

Awareness program:

NSS Camp

NSS of our college is very active. NSS volunteers have planted nearly 200 saplings in our

campus and in association with Apex club. NSS volunteers have implemented Green vegetation

in our Girls‟ hostel. „Road Safety awareness and Health Awareness Rally‟ was conducted in

Komarapalayam in the month of December 2018. Also, NSS volunteers offered their services to

clean Sathiyathin Shakthinilai Sangam at Bhavani, in their three day camp. Blood Donation

Camp was organised and NSS volunteers donated blood, as well in case of emergency our NSS

students donate blood as and when asked.They have rendered their service in cleaning and

maintaining our college premises.

Tamilian‟s traditional festival „Pongal‟ was celebrated on 12th

January 2019. Chairman of

the Institution „Cavalier‟ Dr. M S Mathivanan inaugurated the celebration.Every

Department organised pongal celebration and distributed sweets.

August 2018 and 26th

2019 respectively and the tricolor was hoisted by the Principal of the Institution.

Saraswathi Pooja was performed in each Department in the month of October 2018.

Vinayakar Chaturthi festival celebrated on 12.9.18.

PLACEMENT ACTIVITIES 2018-2019

Training and Placement Cell of our college conducts trainings at regular intervals on „Aptitude

Test‟, „Mock GD‟, „Mock Interviews‟ and on „Employability Skills‟.

The Placement cell of SSM College of Engineering has arranged the Placement Training

for the Final Year Students in association with ACME Academy and the SSM Faculty

members in the area of Aptitude, Communication, Soft Skills and Computer

Programming Languages.
