Introduction to MPMA

• Incorporated on 31st October 1966

• Non-profit organization to represent the broad interests of the paint manufacturing industry in Malaysia

• Objectives:• To promote and protect the interests of the manufacturers of paints* in Malaysia.

*include all paints, varnishes, enamels, lacquers, distempers and their allied products

• To promote and support legislation for the improvement of the standing of manufacturers of paints in Malaysia

• To promote the collection and circulation of statistics and other information relating to the paints industry and the publication of the other literary undertakings as may seem appropriate.

• To subscribe to or become a member of/or cooperate with any public body or institution or association where it is considered such subscription membership or cooperation is conducive to the objects for which the Association is established for ie MPMA is a subsector under the Chemical Industries Council of Malaysia (CICM) and International Paint and Printing Ink Council (IPPIC)

Driving the Elimination of Lead in Paint agenda

MPMA has jointly agreed to commit voluntarily to have all the members to remove lead in DECORATIVE paints by year 2018 while enhancing it’s effort in the replacement of lead in other types of paints with the intention of finally eliminating the use of lead in paints by 2020 to meet the International efforts.

Creating a standard framework and guidelines in Supply & Apply Contract

We organised a Seminar on “Understanding a Supply & Apply Contract” for the members in January 2019.MPMA will then create a standard form of Contract for “Supply & Apply” that the members can use/refer to protect their rights.

Dialogue with the Royal Malaysia Custom Dept on the issues of new Sales Tax implementation

During the implementation of the new Sales Tax in Malaysia, many of our members needed some clarifications.MPMA gathered all the concerns and questions which we tabled to the Custom Department which culminate into a seminar and dialogue amongst the officers and the members on March 2019.
