PRAYER TO SAINT MICHAEL
THE ARCHANGEL
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our
defense against the wickedness and snares of the
Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do
thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of
God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

John 16:12-15
“A matter that perplexed ancient thinkers was the question of divine transcendence. How could a deity who had existence in a supernatural realm be available to believers in the human realm? (Fr. Michael Simone, S.J.) The Trinity is the core of our belief system, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As Roman Catholics we begin our prayers and end our prayers with the powerful ritual of the sign of the cross. Some of us hesitate to openly express our belief in public, to pray our thanks before and after meals. However, when we, I, manifest our belief there is a change in my whole being. Grace fills us and empowers us to be the visible presence of Christ.
This simple, humble expression tells people we believe in Jesus Christ who was sent into our world, took on our full humanity and accepted suffering, pain, death, and Resurrection to teach us LOVE. The Father loves us so much to send his son into creation and remind us of the covenant. Last week this reminder was expressed in the Holy Spirit to be with us, dwell with us always and “remind us of all that I taught you”. This Holy Spirit ignites and fires within us the gifts and fruits of LOVE. We know right from wrong. We can stand up for justice with mercy. We willingly sacrifice for the good of others.
The Trinity influences our thoughts, words, and actions. Crosses everywhere remind us we are not alone. We only have to ask for the presence of the Trinity and the graces we need, in the moment, rise in our souls and consciences to do the next right thing. Even when our first thoughts are selfish and self-centered, grace focuses us on serving one another, especially those who cannot speak up for them-selves, those who do not know, those who are on the fringe of society.
As we celebrate this profound mystery in our daily lives, we need only reflect on what motivates us to speak the truth, to act justly for others, to name God in our daily lives and admit what happens with the Grace of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We have a real, visible, tangible relationship with God. We see, feel, taste, touch, hear the real presence as we value doing the good for others, asking for courage to do the good for others, and willingly acting for the good of others. We cannot do this by ourselves. We tire to easily. We are drained too soon. With the Trinity we find the focus, the energy, the willingness to be for our neighbor.
Make the sign of the cross now. What happens to your whole being in this simple, profound move-ment of our arms across our mind, body, and soul. MYSTERY becoming real. Mind and heart acting for the good of others. Our whole being involved in ongoing creation, here and now. Amen!!!! Alleluia!!!
Go into the world bringing the Good News!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! “ A matter that perplexed ancient thinkers was the question of divine transcendence.”

Fun Fact
In June, 1980, the 7th and 8th graders of D'Iberville Middle School
adorned their gym wall with a painted mural depicting things along the
Gulf Coast. At the base of an Oak tree was painted the St. Theresa
Chapel, then located on Central Avenue in D'Iberville. The only other
church in the mural was St. Michael Catholic Church. Also depicted
were sea life and three shrimp boats. The mural took 200 man hours (4
days) and $28.00 of paint.
