Hello and greetings. I pray this newsletter finds you all doing well and staying healthy. As we con- tinue to seek ways that we can connect till we get back together, this newsletter is one way of keep- ing in touch with each one of you. As we focus on the month of June and beyond, we are still not sure when we can get back together all in place again. I have been thinking of some ways we can gather without putting anyone at risk of getting infected. So here are some ideas for thought: 1) join in a drive in at the park worship service 2) do an evening of hymn singing on Facebook or Zoom live. If you have any ideas or sug- gestions please forward them onto us. For other news, the church board is scheduled to vote to move forward to the single board model starting July 1 st . The vote and charge conference is scheduled to meet on May 20 th with our Con- ference Superintendent. Annual conference is scheduled for Aug 15 th and Oct 10 th both of these are Saturday only gather- ings. The August date is being held at Indiana Wesleyan in Marion and the October date will be- held at St. Luke's in Indianapolis. More information will be forthcoming as we still struggle with the virus and the dos and don'ts of what is allowed. My prayers are with you all and wish you all a very safe and enjoyable summer, Till we are able to gather together keep watching and sharing with those around you on Facebook and social me- dia. Gods blessings be with you all. Blessings, Pastor Russ J U N E 2 0 2 0 West Point UMC Russs View From The Front Pew

Bible Studies

United Methodist Women

Weds AM Bible Study: Pam has ordered a 31 week study by Dr. David Jeremiah "The Book of Signs: 31 Undeniable Prophecies of the Apocalypse". This book examines the prophetic writings from the Old and New Testaments to help you cut through the confusion and give you insights about God's plan for humankind as the end times draw near. It includes: International signs, cultural signs, Heavenly signs, tribulation signs, and end signs. There is also a study guide to accompany it. Pam will preview it and try to report to the Wednesday Study group to see if there is enough interest to pur-chase. Due to shutdowns, the books will not be mailed to her until May sometime. If anyone would like to pre-view it also, please let her know. You can also log on to Christianbook.com to read about the study. We will not plan on resuming a study until September 9th and if we choose to do this one, it will run until May 5, 2021 unless we have to cancel some sessions. If you are interested in this study, please let her know or give her titles of other studies you might be interested in.

Our scheduled June 10th “Annual Eat Out” meeting has been cancelled. We will try and come up with something else for the summer, but it all depends on how the Covid 19 virus is trending in the area. Maybe a carry in at the park where we can all spread out? Just a thought. Suggestions are welcome. The UMW would like to extend an invitation to the ladies of the church to join our group if you are already not a member. We meet during the following months: March, April, June, September, and December. Please consider joining us. Membership is open to all ladies ages 18 & up. If you would like to talk with a current member about the UMW, following is a list of our current members: Brenda Alley, Mary Barnett, Corky Byers, Kay Chase, Darlene Christian, Betty Dexter, Virginia Emerick, Ashley Everett, Sandi Gayler, Jane Haan, Eve Hamilton, Vicki Harbath, Pam Katter, Robin Leuck, Teresa Luttrell, Rae Ritchie, Ruth Shedd, and Carol Stout. And

School is officially done for the year. While it didn’t finish out the way we all anticipated and hoped it would, there is still much to be thankful for. We were able to celebrate the 2020 graduates with a parade through West Point (pictures on page 9). It was wonderful to see how the community came out to support these kiddos and all that they have accomplished! A big thank you to the West Point Volunteer Fire Dept for leading the way, to West Point Chill for providing ice cream treats and to Eddie Joe’s for providing cinnamon rolls to the participants! What a wonderful community we live in! And to top it off, the Lord blessed us with a beautiful day – God is good!

No Youth Birthdays on file for June. Please advise if we have missed anyone so we may get them added for next year.

The list for 2020 to donate floral arrangements for the alter table is on the bul-letin board in the hospitality room. Please sign up on the list to donate flowers for birthdays, anniversaries, memorials, or just because. Remember to give Helen $10 prior to the Sunday you are donating. Just a note, the arrangements would normally cost around $30 so we are getting quite a bargain. If you pre-fer to get your own arrangement, be sure Helen knows so she won't order at Payless. Thank all of you who have donated. When we again resume services

please remember to sign up for flowers: Thanks Helen for continuing to provide flowers to enhance the worship area for Sunday online ser-vices. They are lovely. Any and all are always welcome to join us for our Worship team meetings. We always welcome suggestions to help enhance our worship service and space.

Our Mission Team projects have been slowed by the shut down but not stopped. We were able to deliver a Birthday Bags for May to the Villa….actually to their porch. The cheery bags are especially important now. June bags are ready to go and will be delivered by the time you read this. We still plan to have a hat decorating day for the ladies, so ribbons and flowers are still needed. Our Yard Sale will be rescheduled as soon as we are able. Please keep holding on to your un-wanted treasures. You even may be adding to your collection as you stay home and organize your spaces. If you get really bored…..you could price your donations. That would be very much appreciated. Hmmmmm, think I will drag out my donation tote and my price tags and try not to let any of it back into my house. We planned workshops to make hats and mittens for our Mintonye Backpack kids’ Christ-mas gifts. With lots of time on my hands, no gatherings allowed and a stash of fabric in my closet the sets cane together quickly and are ready for gift wrap. Thanks to fabric donations from the porches of friends, I collected enough additional fleece to make 130 hats for Opera-tion Christmas Child boxes. Perhaps you have an idea for bookmarks, simple bracelets or small bags that could be added to the boxes. By the time we are allowed to go out again we could have lots and lots of things made. We are all anxious to be together again but please stay in and stay safe.
