Jan Harris, Volunteer Coordinator family promise Monday evening, December 11 Contact Marguerite Sullivan at [email protected] FAMILY PROMISE - Keeping families together through difficult mesis the promise made to our community by Family Promise of Wake County. Since 1994, the program has operated through more than 50 local congregaons and 3500 volunteers to provide shelter and support for families needing this help. The help to each family is extended inially for six weeks. Par- cipang churches and synagogues feed and house families in their church for one out of the six week long program. This aid enables families to transion to inde- pendent living situaons. Throughout the transion families are able to keep to- gether! The children outnumber the adults and range in age from newborns to teens. Our neighbor, the First Presbyterian Church feeds and houses families in its facilies for a week four mes a year. The Church of the Good Shepherd has helped First Presbyterian for one day during each of those weeks. On Monday December 11 th we will be providing dinner to the three or four families in the pro- gram. Volunteers can help in one or more of the following ways: providing a dish for the evening meal, eang with our guest families, driving the families to and from First Presbyterian from the Family Promise day center on Method Road, and serving as overnight hosts. We have a small but dedicated group of volunteers from Good Shepherd. We welcome anyone desiring to help in this important effort. Please join us!
