About SAFASouth Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) was formed in 1984 as a federation of professional accounting bodies in the SAARC region. Currently, it has nine member bodies from five countries namely Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, which has bond of culture and homogeneity of professional environment. It is an Apex Body of the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) and Regional Grouping of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). It represents over 3,00,000 accountants of South Asian Countries.

About the ConferenceThe accounting professions has been dispassionately engaged in providing professional services through dissemination of financial information reflecting in the audited financial statements in the public interest and also assisting in the sustainable economic growth of the nation. The accounting professionals are required to be updated with latest development in the profession to serve the society and nation in responsible manner. The trust on our profession is due to the professionalism and ethical behavior of the professional accountants. A distinguishing mark of our profession is the acceptance of the responsibility to act in the public interest and not exclusively to satisfy the needs of an individual client or employer. In acting in the public interest, a professional accountant observes and complies with the Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants developed by the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) and/or member body of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).

In view of above, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) is organizing a one-day SAFA International Conference on “Ethical Dimensions of Accounting Profession" on 13th August, 2016 (Shrawan 29, 2073), Satuday at Soaltee Crowne Plaza, Kathmandu, Nepal. The conference shall focus on the contemporary and emerging issues on code of ethics and their impact on accounting profession in SAFA region. The main attraction of the conference will be prominent accounting professionals with international exposures as key speakers and participants of SAFA region.

About ICANICAN is the national accounting body set up under the Nepal Chartered Accountants Act 1997 to enhance social recognition and faith in the Accounting Profession by raising public awareness towards economic and social responsibility of Accountants and to contribute towards economic development of the country through the development of awareness among the professionals about their responsibility towards the importance of accountancy in order to develop, protect and promote the accounting profession. ICAN is the member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), Confederation of Asian & Pacific Accountants (CAPA) & South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA).
