Dear Friends,

First of all, I would take this opportunity to wish all the readers of Sagar a very bright FY 2013-14. FY 2012-13 has been an extremely challenging year to say the least, for the economy as a whole and the Automotive Industry as well. The industry has shown a growth of just 8.04% compared to last year. The cumulative production growth for 2013 is at a meagre 2.76% over the last year. In line, with the growth of industry, the

DK Jain group registered a growth of 5 %, with Lumax Industries, our flagship company, registered a growth of 8 %. The ever rising interest rates, inflation couple with decelerating economy have resulted in the lowest growth in the last decade for the Indian Automobile industry. This thwarts the forecast where cars were estimated to grow 0-1 % and the overall passenger vehicles segment was predicted to grow 7-10%. With the forecast of the industry, growth is dropping well below the expected targets. These are the toughest times for the Indian Auto industry. Lower projection of economic growth and continuing high inflation has further dented customer sentiments and sales may decline further in coming months. Subdued demand and lack of incentive to buy new vehicles may prove challenging that may keep sales lower for the rest of the fiscal. This is the time where we need to perform like managers. Staying focused and striving to get the best out of you will ensure the consistency of brand LUMAX for its quality and performance.Friends, the coming year seems to be full of challenges, tough time would try to put obstacles on our way but we should not forget that Lumax has a history of accepting the challenges and overcome such situations with courage and strength in mind. Hence, I would like to urge you all to make efficient moves while making investments and utilize our capacities

to the fullest without compromising on quality, cost, and delivery. Moving ahead, I am extremely delighted to share that Lumax DK Pantnagar plant has won the JIPM- TPM Excellence Award, possibly the first automotive lighting plant worldwide to achieve the same. This is one of the most significant achievements within our group historically. I take this opportunity to appreciate & thank each and every member of Lumax team for their hard work, efforts, sleepless nights, commitment and more importantly their belief in themselves without which this milestone would not have been achieved. This is the result of your hard work & sincere efforts put in by each one at the plant in past years. Today, it is yet again proven that ‘Honest & Sincere efforts always lead to the desired results no matter how long it takes’.I firmly believe that TPM is the only way to keep customers, employees & stakeholders happy and contented at the same time. Our mission is incomplete till we ensure TPM is truly & religiously followed in the right sense at each and every plant within our group. Remember, this was merely a milestone in our journey and not the final destination. Our efforts must continue with as much sincerity & honesty as before in order to strive for JIPM TPM World Class some day in the future. Very soon, Anmol shall kick-off the TPM journey across the other manufacturing plants in phased manner.Friends the coming year and times are undoubtedly tough for all of us. Mr. Anmol Jain during his tenure (2012-13) as the Chairman, CII (HR) emphasized on the improvement of core issues of the state mainly – Power, Infrastructure & Environment, Industry Relation and Skill Development. Mr. A. Jain conducted several meetings between Government and Industry to address the key concerns of the state on different level and platforms.He took various initiatives on improving Industry Relations and organized workshops on Skill development and Employment generation. Engaging with Civil society for promoting Gender Equality, Combating HIV/Aids, other disease & Women safety were some other initatives he worked upon.

A nine member delegation of Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DICCI) visited Lumax Industries Ltd. at Bawal, Haryana on February 6, 2013. The Delegation was lead by Mr. Sanjiv Dangi, President DICCI Jaipur chapter and others. The delegates were taken on the tour of the plant and introduced to various technologies and procedures of the production process.

Lumax Auto Technologies Limited (All Plants) went Live on SAP on April 1, 2013. It was all in-house implementation by SAP Team. This is 2nd in-house implementation after Lumax DK which went live on October 1, 2011.

MPS Competition was held among Mace Cluster -1 members on February 27 2013 at LIL, Gurgaon. Mr. R. B. Madhekar (Chief Advisor - MACE), Mr. J. Kumar and Mr. V. Jhakmola awarded trophies to the winners.

JIPM TPM Final Audit

JIPM TPM Audit

The final audit for the JIPM TPM was held at Lumax DK, Pantnagar on January 14, 2013. TPM assessors from JIPM (Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance) Mr. Yoshitaka Murase and Mr. Kimio Ishikawa along with CII team conducted a rigorous assessment of the plant’s TPM implementation activities with respect to the criteria laid down for “Award for TPM Excellence, Category A”, both at off-site and on-site. The team was welcomed by Sr. ED-Mr. A. Jain, Sr. VP-Mr. S. Mehta, Sr. GM-Mr. S. Tyagi along with Pantnagar team.

Safety Week

National Safety Day was celebrated at LIL Bawal starting from 4-10 March 2013. During the safety week, all employees took safety pledge and wore safety badges.

National Safety Week was celebrated at Lumax DK, Pantnagar from 4-10 March, 2013. On this occassion a training program was organized from external faculty “Tiger Industrial Safety Gear-Mallcom” on the topic of “Safety Awareness at Workplace” by Mr. Raman Tiwari.

LATL, PCNTDA celebrated International Safety Week from 4-11 March 2013. The event started with basic safety awareness at work place, displaying the safety banner and distributing badges to each member.
