The Sacrament of Marriage is celebrated after a period of preparation of no less than six months. Registered parishioners who wish to marry at St. Joseph’s are invited to contact one of the priests during regular weekday office hours before making any other arrangements. The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated, on the first and third Sundays of the month at 1:30pm. Please call the Parish Office to schedule an appointment with one of the priests. The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is available at any time to any Catholic over the age of reason who is seriously ill, preparing for surgery or suffering the effects of age. The priests of the parish regularly celebrate the Eucharist and administer the sacrament of the sick at the area nursing homes; lay ministers lead services and bring communion to the residents every Sunday.

Monday, August 15th is the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Mother. It is NOT a Holy Day of Obligation. When
this Holy Day falls on a Saturday or Monday Catho-lics are NOT obliged to attend Mass. However, if you would like to attend Mass for this special Solemn Feast of Our Lady, the Masses for Monday, August 15, will be 7:30am, 9:00am, 12 Noon, and 7:00pm. All the Masses will be celebrat-ed in the Church.

Our Parish Council, Finance Council and Trustees are an important part of our parish family. As Pastor, I rely on the collective wisdom of the People of God, who are represented in these committees.
Last year, 2015- 2016, we updated our By Laws. To this end, I have decid-ed to continue in the New Year, 2016- 2017, with the Council members that were chosen for last year. In June of 2017, I will reach out to members of the parish who may like to serve on one of these Councils for the following year, 2017- 2018.
The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola
"The Challenge of the Gospel in Everyday Life" is an experience of prayer and contemplation based on Scripture. It is for anyone who desires a closer rela-tionship with Christ in the midst of the world's chal-lenges and difficulties. An informational meeting will be scheduled in early September and the program will start in late Sep-tember. Check the bulletin for more details. Bible Study Progam: Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible Bible Study Program
Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible
An 8 week DVD based presentation from Ascension Press with small group discussion. Meetings will be in the Parish Center on Wednesdays at 7:15 PM be-ginning September 14th. The goal of the study is to: Make sense of the Bible and see how it relates to your everyday life; discover the remarkable connec-tions between the Old and New Testaments; see how the sacraments, the Church and our entire Catholic Faith is rooted in Scripture. Capuchin Youth Leadership Training, August 26-28, 2016: CYFM has been providing teen leadership training for over 37 years. Even teens that don’t consider themselves leaders benefit from the authenticity and skill-training that we offer. The Leadership modules include the practical: effective communication, under-standing group dynamics and facilitating groups, developing and delivering effective presentations, enhancing self-esteem, and time management; as well as how to combine all those skills for utilization in Evangelization as authentic Christian leaders. Through the skills they acquire and perfect during the training teens convert themselves, their parishes, their schools, and their families. They are prepared and transformed into the people that God is calling them to be! Your musical talents can enhance our music program & liturgies and “..make a joyful song to the Lord”!
Adult Choir For anyone 18 and older, the Adult Choir meets every Tuesday evening, September-May, at 7:00 pm in the church. Performs Classical & Contemporary Sacred Music Sings weekly for the 10:00 am Sunday mass and other parish liturgies. Contemporary Ensemble Anyone in high school or older. Wonderful group if you like to sing or play an in-strument (flute, violin, clarinet, acoustic or electric guitar, electric or string bass, keyboard, drums…) Sings for our Sunday 6:00 pm mass Liturgies and rehearsals as scheduled.
Youth Choir For children in grades two to eight. Sings for the noon Family Mass every third Sunday of the month. Convenient after-school rehearsals every Tuesday, 5:45-6:30 pm in Church.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES 2016
For 16 years, the Community Center of Northern Westchester has provided thousands of students with basic school sup-plies. Once again we are seeking donations of new items for students ages 3 to 18. This program eases the financial burden faced by many families at the beginning of the school year, and helps students get off to a great start in school! We begin handing out supplies in August.
Preschool: Crayola large crayons, Coloring book or pad Elementary: Crayola Washable Markers, Crayola crayons (box of 24), Glue sticks, Colored pencils, #2 pencils (packages of 12) Two-pocket folders, Black & white marble composition books, Handheld pencil sharpener, Erasers, 3”x3” Post-Its Secondary: Colored pencils, #2 pencils (packages of 12), 1” 3-ring binders, Notebook filler paper, Subject dividers, 3” x 3” Post-Its, Erasers, Single-subject notebooks, Two-pocket plastic folders, Black & white marble composition books, Soft nylon pencil bag, 3” x 5” white ruled index cards A donation of $25 will provide a student with basic supplies! Donations may be brought to the Center at 84 Bedford Road in Katonah from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Tuesdays through Fri-days and from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturdays. Hour of Prayer For the Conversion of Hearts
The Northern Westchester and Putnam Vicari-ate Respect Life Committee is sponsoring an “Hour of Prayer for the Conversion of Hearts” of those who promote, perform and support abortions. Only by God’s intervention will the respect for the sanctity of all human life be ac-complished. Locally, an hour of prayer and ado-ration will be held at St. Mary’s Church at 55 Val-ley Road in Katonah after the 12 noon Mass for the Feast of the Assumption, Monday, August 15th. All are invited to participate in this ser-vice.
Seton Summer Bible Seminar
Join St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 1377 E. Main St., Shrub Oak, for a Summer Bible Seminar titled, THE APOSTLE PAUL ON CELIBACY AND MAR-RIAGE (1 Cor 7), given by Fr. Martin Kowalski. It will be held four Thursday evenings from 7-9pm in the Seton Memorial Chapel.

Fr. Kowalski is from Kielce, Poland. He studied at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome and at the Rothberg International School in Jerusalem. He teaches courses in the Old and New Testaments at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin and at the Seminary in Kielce. He is an editor of Biblical Annals and a host of TV and radio programs popu-larizing the Bible. This is a free event. All are wel-come. Bring your own Bible.
