SAINT ROSESTUDENTS FIRST

SPONSOR A STUDENT, SECURE A FUTURE

MY ULTIMATE GOAL...IS FOR OUR STUDENTS TO DEVELOP THEIR INTELLECTUAL SKILLS AND PREPARE TO

BECOME INFORMED, PROACTIVE AND SUCCESSFUL LEADERS IN THEIR CAREERS, FAMILIES,

COMMUNITIES, AND AS GLOBAL CITIZENS. IN ORDER TO ACCOMPLISH THIS, WE MUST

ENSURE THAT A SAINT ROSE EDUCATION CONTINUES TO BE ACCESSIBLE TO ALL STUDENTS.

SAINT ROSE STUDENTS FIRSTAs part of the inaugural year of my Presidency, I am announcing ascholarship initiative—Saint Rose Students First—designed to help secure the future of the next generation of Saint Rose students.

I have the moral obligation to put students first by offering rigorous academic experiences; providing opportunities for developing their intellectual, creative and spiritual development; and for providing a supportive and safe living-learning environment.

David Szczerbacki, Ph.D.President, The College of Saint Rose

One of the most important issues affecting the future success of our young people is access tohigher education. We know that federal and state governments, the media and, most importantly, families are concerned with the cost of college and rising student debt. Public anxiety over thecost of college is higher than ever. Our ability to realize our mission as a tuition-driven institutionis and will be predicated by our ability to address the issue of affordability head on.

—President Szczerbacki

I am so thankful for the generous financial aid package I re-ceived as an incoming freshman and throughout my years atSaint Rose. With the help of the Monsignor Delaney AlumniFamily Scholarship and the Saint Rose Trustees’ Scholarship,I was able to attend The College of Saint Rose. Without thisfinancial aid, I would not have been able to enroll in the dis-tinguished education programs that Saint Rose has to offer.

I come from a low-income family, but one that highly values education and believes in working toward goals. Even thoughmoney was always a concern, I had to remain confident andhopeful that my diligence and hard work would help mequalify for great financial assistance.

Simply put, I would not be here if it wasn't for the generosityof The College of Saint Rose financial aid package and thesupport it gives to students like me who are hardworking butsimply may not possess the means to afford college.

Throughout my college experience, I was able to focus onlearning and building relationships with fellow students andmentors in the community. I was so fortunate to be able topursue my interests and discover my passions without thefear of figuring out how I would handle a significant amount ofdebt. My financial aid package gave me the opportunity totake a full four years of undergraduate education to exploremy interests.
