Home School Gym (1 hour) September 2, 2016 - June 2017 A gym class for children who are home schooled. Each week's session will be different. Utilizing agility, cardio, strength, endurance and team/leadership building. The group will learn proper ways to warm up and stretch to minimize risk of injury. Taught by Certified Personal Trainer and kids coach Colby Boulay.

Kid’s Tae-Kwon Do (1 hour) August 29, 2016 - June 2017 Tae Kwon Do is a total body learning activity. Lessons are tailored to your child's age and skill level. Your child begins by practicing basic patterns, and forms, kicking, blocking, striking and punching. These fundamental skills increase your child's physical coordination, flexibility, balance, and mental acumen. Tae Kwon develops your child's athletic abilities, self awareness, improves your child's self-esteem, builds confidence, develops discipline and learn self-defense. Taught by experienced Black Belt instructor Bao Ngo.

Youth Strength & Conditioning (Ages: 8-13) Your child will learn how to properly improve their overall conditioning and increase their strength. Simple Calisthenics, running, proper stretching techniques, resistance training and core work emphasized. Taught by Certified Personal Trainer and kids coach Colby Boulay.

Taught by Certified Personal Trainer and high school baseball coach Colby Boulay.

Beginner Yoga (Ages: 16+) September 11, 2016 - November 27, 2016 The beginner Yoga program is for anyone new to the practice of yoga or in need of a refresher of the basics. Yulia will start with the basics and progress each week focusing on posture and purpose. Build a strong body, mind and spirit through yoga. Basic moves are introduced at a slower pace and meant to progress through the 12 week program. Taught by experienced Yoga Instructor and travel extraordinaire Yulia Fein. Class meets for 1 hour for the 1st 4 weeks.

Krav Maga (Ages: 18+) Class begins September 1, 2016 and September 4, 2016 Krav Maga is a precise, systematic, arrangement of learned skills and supporting exercises designed to increase one?s abilitiy to successfully manage a self-defense encounter should the need unfortunately arise. Taught by certified Krav Maga instructor Mike Leonard.

Road Race Training (Ages: 16+) Class begins September 11, 2016 Get stronger, improve your health and feel and feel more confident with weight training. Weight training is a necessary componet of every women's exercise program for weight loss and the fight against bone loss. This class will teach you how to use weights, physioballs and other resistance training tools to reach your fitness goals at every level. Taught by Certified Personal Trainer and experienced road race runner Beth Schultz.

INFANT, TODDLER AND PRESCHOOL SWIM WITH PARENTAges: 6 months - 5 yearsThrough skill specific games and water play, children learn water safety, find a love for the water and progress through innovative skills and fun drills, one-on-one with a parent. Kicking, floating, swimming without flotation and submerging will be explored. Build a foundation for future swimming success while sharing with your child the importance of playing and swimming safely in, and around water.
PRESCHOOL SWIM ACADEMY Ages: 3 years - 5 yearsFun with a splash of confidence. Preschoolers are introduced to the water and total submersion, then progress to kicking and pulling independently with flotation. Once comfortable, basic strokes, deep water skills and diving are encouraged while on the way to swimming flotation free! These classes are for all levels of children ranging from children who are entering the water the first time and may be apprehensive to those who already have a love for water and need to hone their skills.
YOUTH SWIM ACADEMYAges: 6 years and upFloat, pull and kick your way to swimming 25 yards. Increase stamina and personal water safety as you tackle the challenge of the Front Crawl, Backstroke, Sidestroke, Elementary Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly. Advance to swimming up to 500 yards while discovering the fun of snorkeling, diving, competitive starts & turns and playing games that combine all of your newly acquired skills.
SWIM ACADEMY
The YMCA Swim Academy boasts an innovative curriculum designed to advance individual swimmer’s skills and abilities in a wide variety of swimming proficiencies including personal safety, submersion, stroke work, diving, boating safety, competitive swimming, endurance and physical fitness. Each Swimmer’s progress is tracked as they earn rewards for benchmarks achieved. Complete all the skills at one level and advance to the next. Our program produces the future lifeguards and swim instructors that we count on to keep our community safe.

COMPETITIVE SWIMMING
LITTLE SHARKSAges: 4 years - 6 yearsDesigned for younger swimmers who are interested in gaining the skills needed for competitive swimming. This mini swim team focuses on stroke development, technique, racing starts and turns. This class is perfect for those who want to learn in a team environment and have fun at the same time. Swimmers should be able to swim one length of the pool freestyle and backstroke.
SHARKS BRONZEAges: 7 years - 11 yearsBronze Group teaches more advanced stroke technique and includes racing starts, turns and the principles of streamlining.
SHARKS SILVERAges: 12 years - 14 yearsDesigned for swimmers who are looking to expand their stroke technique. Shark Silver focuses on stroke mechanics, starts, turns and aerobic conditioning.
SHARKS SWIM TEAMThe YMCA of the North Shore Sharks Swim Team strives to teach, train and motivate children to achieve their potential in competitive swimming. Our direction and philosophy applies to the novice as well as the national caliber athlete. Our highly specialized coaching staff emphasizes effective swimmer-to-coach ratios, a year-round program and ability-based practice groups.
NORTH SHORE SELKIES: Synchronized SwimmingSynchronized swimming “synchro” is fun and exciting. Our competitive team includes swimmers ages 5-18. The YMCA of the North Shore Selkies Synchronized Swim Team promotes the development of self-esteem as swimmers engage physically and creatively in this performance oriented sport. *Offered at Greater Beverly YMCA.
MASTERS SWIMThe YMCA of the North Shore provides Masters Swimmers, Fitness Swimmer, Tri Athletes and Open Water Swimmers an organized approach to training and competing. Coached and Non–Coached programs are available depending upon your appetite for training, schedules and competition.

YMCA MVP SPORTS: A HEAD START TO A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE!At our Ys, our sports staff, coaches and volunteers all share a singular vision of helping all youth reach their full potential in life. We leverage the excitement and passion around recreational and competitive programming to create a healthy outlet for children to gain new skills, develop a sense of team and connect with positive role models. We encourage and include activities that help in developing gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination and encourage a love for sports, all while having fun.
PRE-SEASON: “JOINING A TEAM”Ages: 3 years - 5 years Length: 45 Minute Class/4 Week SessionChildren learn the basics of the sport, teamwork, feel a sense of achievement and confidence, increase their gross motor skills and hand eye coordination, and make friends. This is a great class for a child who is new to the sport.
LEAGUE: “COMPETING AND LEARNING” Ages: 3 years - 5 years Length: 60 Minute Class/8 Week SessionLeagues provide children a chance to learn rules and skills of the sport in a fun but competitive environment. Our staff coaches work with the team so that each child is engaged and connected with their peers. As the league progresses, new skills are taught with a practice at the beginning of the class and then a coached game to follow. YMCA MVP League’s goal is to keep children active, learning and having fun while gaining a love for organized sports.
PRACTICE AND PLAY: “GROWING OUR TALENT”Ages: 3 years - 5 years Length: 45 Minute Class/8 Week SessionPractice and Play is a great class to take in conjunction with the league. Children learn about the rules of the game and work on skills they can use in league play or on their own. The class is perfect for both beginners and those children who have taken organized sports classes before. Our staff coaches will teach to each child’s level through age-appropriate skill building games focused on gross motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
POST-SEASON: “GOING PRO!”Ages: 4 years - 5 years Length: 45 Minute Class/4 Week SessionDoes your child want to improve on the skills they have already built? This is the class for them. Post-season emphasis is on skill development and game play toimprove performance, all in a fun setting. Continued instruction of rules learned in the league, performance building activities and highlighting the achievement of each player is the goal of “Going Pro”! Going pro has a smaller class size to allow for more individualized instruction.
