Saving Others—Different methods/Approaches (Jude 22-25)

Introduction: We are all interested in saving souls, I trust. If we are not, then the common salvation does not mean anything as it should to us, and we’ll be missing at the finals. In addition, we need to give some though to –trusting that there are different kinds of people, personalities, and need - different method as is the case in our text. Of course, we must ever remember that the means of salvation is in the gospel (Rom. 1:16-17). Jesus is the savior and there is no other way (Jn. 14:1-6). However, it is easy to come across to some as being mean and ugly and to others that they may THINK we are too gentle, not as serious as we should be. Yet, what we wish to look at in this lesson is our text and it’s implications along with many other passages that relate to the matter.

Winning Souls –A Good Thing!1, We are told that soul winning is a good thing: “ Pr 11:30 ¶ The fruit of

the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise. {winneth: Heb. taketh}

First we all need to have compassion for the souls of people, regardless of where they have been and where they are presently, IF we will do all that we can because we love them, as God loved us (Jn. 3:16)

Fear is one factor that each should be concerned with, the terrible condition of the eternal destruction that is waiting for the unsaved. (Cf. Matt. 25:31-46) just two options to each person, and unless one is active “by faith” the destiny is determined! All whose names are not written in the book of life is destine to the eternal fire burning lake (Rev. 20:15; 21:8)

Hating the defilement of the flesh – when people fail to resist the works of the flesh,( as described Gal. 5:16-21) they suffer, as well as others around them in the family, associates, community, society in general.

There is Salvation ONLY “In Christ” (Eph. 1:3; 2 Tim:10)

• There is One Way, any effort to “water down” the gospel is destructive to the teacher and the receiver! (Jn. 14:6)

• Each has to enter the “strait gate” and follow the “narrow” way. (Matt. 7:13-14) to have Life eternal!

• Faithfulness after entering is essential, too (Rev. 2:10) –one can leave (2 Tim. 4:10)

Disappointment awaits many!

• There are, evidently going to be many disappointed at the judgment, even though they have been very religious, active, in the use of their time, talent, and resources (Matt. 7:21-27). Yet, the KEY is clearly stated: Hear His Word and DO! That’s within the range of everyone –to listen and obey or ignore, neglect, or outright reject.

• Yet there are many voices telling people that you are safe without complying with the teachings. In fact many will tell you if you have to obey the teachings then you would be earning salvation and some tell you that it is impossible to hear, understand and comply! How sad!

• We try to deal with people who have thus been taught! Having been there, I understand the difficulty to change!

Let us Look, Find, show love and present the Gospel Terms!

• Let us find as many people as we can to tell the story to, and if they reject it, don’t necessary write them of, because conditions may change. Look for an opportunity to move back in, and be grateful for another, second or????? chance or opportunity! Look for and be willing to try again!

• Let us see the compassion, and at times let us see the FEAR –thinking of the heat, everlasting pain, darkness and suffering agony of the lost! For the lost let us always keep people in our prayers, understand as did Paul (Rom. 10:1-4)

Conclusion:

• Let each of us see the need for our salvation, and then be determined to do what we can to show our love for the souls of others, and be willing to use whatever method to get the gospel message (Facts, Commands, and Promises) before others and plead with them to take advantage of the offer of the common salvation, while the time is available!
