    Blood Donation Drive for the New Year

    The branch organized its first blood donation programme for the year2014 on the 08thof January 2014 which was held in the branch premisesin Kottawa where 53 pints of blood were collected.

    Honorary Committee Members, volunteers of the SLRCS ColomboBranch and other individuals were present to donate blood.

    The main objectives of these programmes were to promote & supportthe establishment of effective blood donor programmes, eliminate thelevel of dependency and to support the government as an auxiliary.

    e branch conducted an orientation programme regarding Way Forward Beyond Re Engineering (WF E) on the 09th of February 2014 at the branch premises. The programme was facilitated by the Mrs.mari Kothalawala the Branch Executive Officer of the SLRCS Colombo Branch where unit Chairmen andcretaries were educated on the activities that are to be conducted for the year 2014.

    elief Assistance for Fire Victims

    he Sri Lanka Red Cross Society, Colombo Branch assisted 26 families from the area of 101 Watta,hahampura with the support of the SLRCS Dhahampura Unit and the coordination of the District Disasteranagement Centre (DMC).

    hese families who were victims of an accidental fire which took place Saturday the 08th

    of February 2013ave now been placed at the Vidyawardena Vidyalaya in Kolonnawa.

    saster Response volunteers from the Kolonnawa Division and other officials of the SLRCS were present ine area on the 10thof February 2014 where relief items consisting of 100 bed sheets, 100 bars of soap, 100

    owels, 100 tooth brushes and 30 mosquito nets were distributed to the families as advised Mr. Jagathbeysinghe the Honorary Chairman of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society.

    he Heraliyawala Kekulu Circle celebrated the Independence Day of Sri Lanka on the 15t

    of February 2014Heraliyawala. A parade was organized where children were dressed up in the various cultural costumes

    at represented Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam and Christianity.
