JOHN LAHEY, AIA CHAIRMAN

John Lahey, serves as Chairman of Solomon Cordwell Buenz, overseeing firmwide management for the company’s offices in Chicago, San Francisco and Abu Dhabi. Under his leadership, SCB has secured top rankings in almost every market sector of architecture and design. He also serves as Principal-in-Charge of Design on many of the firm’s residential, office, institutional, hospitality and planning projects.

MARTIN WOLF, FAIA PRINCIPAL

As a Principal at Solomon Cordwell Buenz, Martin Wolf works both nationally and internationally on a broad range of typologies that include commercial, civic, transportation, mixed-use and educational facilities. As Principal in Charge, he is responsible for the leadership of the design process that includes concept through completion. His hands-on design approach ensures the project meets the design intent along with the client’s goals and objectives.

MARK FRIScH, AIA, LEED AP BD+cPRINCIPAL

Mark Frisch is a creative leader who has spent his professional life developing an understanding of how buildings work and innovating on their integration into the natural and built environments. He currently serves as Principal in Charge of Technical Design, where he is responsible for comprehensive technical oversight of the office, initiatives in innovative materials, systems and sustainability, as well as implementing the firm’s rigorous quality assurance program.

GARY KOHN, AIA PRINCIPAL

As SCB’s Principal of Management, Gary Kohn is responsible for principal level management oversight of all projects in the office. His responsibilities include team organization at the outset of projects, contract review and negotiation, monitoring project schedules and staffing, and project delivery methods to produce quality projects that satisfy the client’s needs on every level

BETH DURKINCONSULTING PRINCIPAL

As Director of Interior Design, Beth contributes prolific design and management practice to SCB’s interior design studio. In addition to her retail/mixed-use, education and residential design background, Beth’s expertise in workplace design theory has been put into practice with the studio’s law firm, financial and management consultant clients. Beth’s guidance, knowledge and energy are the basis upon which the interior design studio successfully defines and accomplishes its goals. Her leadership, enthusiasm, and involvement in studio projects ensure total client service and team satisfaction.

PETER NOONE, AIA PRINCIPAL

Peter Noone joined SCB in 1985, and was named Principal in 2002. Peter has developed expertise in a broad array of project types, serving as Project Manager for high-rise condominium, office, retail, and higher educational projects. He is well versed in issues related to renovation, restoration, and has extensive California project experience. In addition, he is a hands-on manager who facilitates smooth communication throughout a project and effectively integrates and directs the efforts of team members.

DEVON PATTERSON,AIA,LEED AP BD+cPRINCIPAL

Devon Patterson has over 15 years of experience in which he has led in the design and planning of various types of large-scale projects including High and Mid-Rise Residential, Office, Higher Education and Retail projects. Devon is currently designing an advanced class room facility and a corporate headquarters campus. Both projects are seeking LEED platinum status. His clear understanding of the relationship of design and materials helps him to create a space that can be effective through both function and aesthetics

TED STRAND, AIA PRINCIPAL

As a Principal at Solomon Cordwell Buenz, Ted Strand is actively involved in the early design phases of projects and maintains continuing project oversight. Before joining SCB in 2001, he was an Associate Partner with Skidmore Owings & Merrill and was the firm’s Director of Far East Operations in Hong Kong from 1995-1999. Previously, Mr. Strand worked in Boston with The Architects Collaborative and then went on to become a founding member of Elkus Manfredi Architects. His extensive design experience on large-scale, mixed-use projects stretches from the United States to Europe and Asia.

JAMES cURTIN, AIAPRINCIPAL

Jim Curtin joined SCB in 1985 and was made Principal in 1999. Jim’s primary focus is high and mid-rise residential, Student Life and Senior Housing markets. He serves as the client’s representative and liaison with the team, providing the guidance and depth of experience to ensure that each client’s specific needs are addressed and satisfied. He provides design continuity for each project and ensures that the project’s fiscal and organizational objectives remain in focus from inception to completion.

cHRISTINE cARLYLE, AIA, AIcPPRINCIPAL

Christine Carlyle, AIA, AICP, NCARB founded and leads the SCB Planning Group based in Chicago. With over 25 years of city planning, urban design and architectural design, in both the public and private sectors, she brings a collaborative leadership and creative design approach to a wide range of national and international projects at a variety of scales. Christine’s work, which includes projects in North America, Europe, Middle East and Asia, demonstrates an integration of innovative design, cultural responsibility and sustainability with the successful management and execution of complex projects.
