Section B: Our School
1. To help you understand our school business better, we will briefly describe our school (e.g. age of the students; location; environment).
The name of our school is GD Goenka World School, a flagship of the GD Goenka School group. It is situated approximately 14kms from Gurgaon city. Our school is covering an area of about 60 acres and houses the best infrastructure in India. We are a group of students aged between 16 to 17, with a diverse set of skills ranging from economics and management to sciences and the arts.
Section C: Our School Business Experience
2. Here is a brief description of the school business we ran before/are currently running, including the products/services we sold/are selling.
Our previous team recycled paper obtained from the institute and sold handicraft goods, we are looking to continue their work.

Section D: Our Resources
3. Considering our school’s physical resources, skills and location, these are the resources available at our school we can use to develop our business:
Location- Very close to the national capital region which gives us good access to resources and presents a vast
amount of opportunities. Near other schools like DPS, Ryan International, Shri Ram School, K.R. Manglam University etc. which we
can sell our products to.
Resources and Skills- Paper, Craft supplies, newspapers can be used to obtain Start-up capital. Students with different skills and subject interests looking for an opportunity to showcase their skills. Support provided by the teacher. Large spaces for displays and exhibitions. Internet Connectivity
Section E: Brainstorming Business Ideas
4. a) These are the five business ideas we thought of when brainstorming a new idea or a way of diversifying or growing the existing one:
Forums- help to connect students from different IB schools + advertisements for different businesses.
Collection and recycling of papers- papers are collected and recycled. Notebooks and notepads will be produced and sold.
Bristles (upgrade package for dispensers) - In restaurants there is a lot of wastage cold drinks from cold drink fountains. Bristles with mathematical models can help to reduce the wastage.
4G Plan – We plan to provide high speed Airtel 4G to students and teachers at a cheaper rate. (Cannot work in summers, 2 months)
Handmade Accessories (such as bracelets, neoflies, necklaces, earrings, etc.)
b) The business we chose for our Silver Award is: Handmade Accessories and Paper RecyclingAnd these are 3 reasons why we chose this idea:
I. The products and raw materials will be easy to transport as they are light.II. Involved in making the most use of the labour force skills such as handicrafts or art students who
are participating in the running of the business.III. There is demand for our products all year round because handmade accessories such as
bracelets don’t have seasonal demand. Therefore, earning high revenue and perhaps high profits for the business.
5. Our final Business Idea will be sustainable and have a positive impact on the environment and our community because:
We will recycle waste paper from our school to raise capital. The handicrafts would be sold to members of the community. Selling of the goods will empower
the individuals from the NGO. For every monthly target we achieve, we will plant two trees in our school campus to promote a
greener school environment.

Section F: Financing our growth and development
6. Here is a description of how we are planning to finance our business, including how we are going to raise the money needed for our school business.
We plan to finance our business by collecting paper or other rubbish that can be recycled, this will then be sold to recyclers for about 10 Rupees per Kg. We will be looking to collect about 100 Kg of such waste so that the money from the sale of which can be used as start-up capital.This money will be used for the production of our items and the revenue generated from their sale will be used to further finance the business.
