Screen Music is an interactive and mobile tablet that allows you to take all of your sheet music in one simple go. Gone are the days of scattered and missing sheets, as well as the need to turn pages. Screen Music keeps a database of all your sheet music. You can compose original work as well as download and upload music onto a peer-to-peer network. This tablet comes with a stylus for interaction and note-taking. Play to your heart’s content!

When one turns on their tablet, the following options are available:

Play allows you to select the sheet music to play. In this mode you can have the tablet playback the music, set the metronome, write notes, enable auto-turn, and edit information.

Compose allows you to create or arrange your own work by using the stylus as a writing tool or by playing. The tablet will hear the notes and automatically record them onto the screen. You can also playback, set the metronome, write notes, and edit information.

Download and Upload allows you to either download another piece to play, or share their music through the network.

Settings gives you the ability to adjust the level of brightness, the volume, and the security settings (i.e. password lock).

Screen Music follows Janet Murray’s essay “Inventing the Medium” by fulfilling these properties:

Procedural Takes input from the user, such as setting the metronome, enabling/ disabling auto-turn, editing information, note-taking, etc. Participatory Requires action from the user via the stylus.Encyclopedic Stores a database of sheet music and allows downloads/uploads of music to share with others.Spatial Spans two screens and acts and looks similar to a music binder.

Such as how a computer can store a user’s documents or how a Kindle can store books, Screen Music allows professional and recreational musicians alike to have all their sheets stored in one place.
