STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE
Dear Parents and Carers,
Scripture Classes Schools and approved providers of Special Religious Education (SRE) & Special Education in Ethics (SEE) were advised on 11 June 2020 that SRE/SEE lessons can resume from the beginning of Term 3. Scripture teachers will have to adhere to a number of responsibilities before the lessons can take place. These include:
• Complying with the AHPPC guidelines and the NSW Health Public Health Orders for COVID-19.
• Understand and comply with the Department's infection control and phy-ical distancing requirements while they are delivering services in a school.
• Complete the External Visitors to School Site form for each visit to a school when they sign in.
• Have the capacity to resume SRE/SEE classes which includes having a plan in place if SRE/SEE teachers are unavailable to attend a school due to cold/flu-like symptom. Any SRE/SEE teacher that develops symptoms consistent with COVID-19, even if mild, must not attend school and should be tested for COVID-19.
• Provide a revised authorisation letter to the school for any new SRE/SEE teacher, including casual/relief teachers, ensuring they have a working with children check clearance and completed initial training.
• Have arrangements in place within their own organisation to determine if a person can continue to work if they are at risk of developing severe ill-ness in accordance with Health advice.
As a school we will be following up with our scripture providers to ensure that the responsibilities are met and if they are unable to provide SRE/SEE teach-ers for a year/stage, that year/stage can continue normal classwork while the other years/stages participate in SRE/SEE.
We continue to make sure we can keep our staff and students safe at all times.
100
th Day of learning
Tuesday the 21st July will be the first day of Term 3, when students return after the school holidays. It will also be our 100th Day of Learning. On our 100th Day of Learning we will be recog-nising our everyday heroes. Also in the first week of Term 3 we will be once again doing our Autism Awareness Program. Earlier in the year we celebrated Blue Week during the Home Learning Time. Many of our students are on the Autism Spectrum and it’s important to empower our students with knowledge and quality information about special needs.
Parent Teacher Interviews This Year we will be holding our Parent Teacher Interviews in Education Week which will be Week 3 in Term 3. Interview times will be indicated on a letter home to parents in Week 1 next term. Please respond if you require an interview. Unfortunately we are still under restrictions of having a large groups of parents on the school grounds. There will also be an option for a face to face interview for parents if it involves a serious matter. However this will be indicated by the teacher to the parent. We hope that parents and carers make time to speak to your child’s teacher in regards to their learning and any other areas of need. Of course if you have an issue or have information you wish to speak to the teacher about don’t wait for Term 3, please call the school, leave
a message with the office and the teacher can call you back at a convenient time or you can also email your class teacher. We understand that the current restrictions due to Covid has placed a lot of extra stress on families at the moment.
Kindergarten and Preschool Enrolment 2021 Kindergarten and Preschool Enrolments for 2021 are now being accepted. Please contact our school office between 8.30am and 3.00pm Monday to Friday to collect the enrolment forms. Completed application forms should be returned to the School Office together with the child’s original Birth Certificate, current Immunisation Certificate and proof of residential address.
P&C NEWS
Please remember to reach out if you need to, we are here to support where we can and help each other through the difficult days and months ahead, you are not alone. At the moment we do not have a date for when School Banking will re-commence. We will advise once this information is available. The Uniform shop is closed until further notice, however orders can be placed over the phone at school and payment can be made over the phone with EFTPOS or online to the P & C Account, (bank details on bottom of order form). Orders will be processed and uniforms given to students or arrangements can be made to pick up. Our next meeting will be in Term 3, date to be confirmed. Regards, P&C Committee
Student Awards
Last Wednesday students were awarded with learning and behaviour awards in their classrooms due to the restrictions currently in place. Congratulations to our students for their efforts. Their photos are in this newsletter. Finally, thank you to all of our families who are adhering to our morning drop off and afternoon pickup schedule. At this time these conditions will continue into Term 3. I hope you have a wonderful school holiday break and we see everyone back on our 100th Day of Learning the 21st July, 2020. Regards Ms Sandra Martin Principal
