• Students must satisfy the minimum criteria for certain subjects
• Professional assessment by teachers of your child’s attitude,
strengths and weakness, results and historical trends
• Subjects which are over-subscribed will be awarded to
students based on results
• Subjects will only be offered if a reasonable number of
students opted for them and there is available resources

1. Aspiration and interest
Have a discussion with your child. Find out what he/sheREALLY wants to do after Secondary School.
Ask your child to share his/her experience in class! Which subjects does he/she like more? Which subjects does he/she want to take? (not what his/her best friends like!)
2. Academic Performance
Look through your child’s academic results. What are his/her strengths and weaknesses based on his/her academic performance?
Work with your child to set realistic targets.Encourage your child to take action NOW! Guideyour child to put in consistent effort and worktowards these targets.

Research on post-secondary courses together with your child. Find out what your child is interested in and what are the related careers
• Conduct online research, e.g. Junior College websites, polytechnic websites, ITE websites
