If you have not yet picked up your ckets, please do so at the October General Meeng (or have someone pick them up for you). I would like to avoid mailing them to you (which would cost the guild money). The drawing for the winning cket will be the final day of our quilt show: 3 p.m. Satur- day, April 27, 2019; winner need not be present to win. This is a major fund raiser for our guild to support speakers and workshops, among other efforts, and helps to keep our annual dues low. Each member is receiving $20 worth of opportunity ckets (4 packets of 6 each or 24 individual ckets – please double check my counng of the ckets!). You can buy the ckets yourself or sell them to others. Once sold, turn in the Folks really want to win the beauful “Blue Spruce” by Edyta Sitar. President’s Message

I havetoadmit–ILoveStuff!Thesaying,“Oneman’strashisanotherman’strea-sure,”Itotallyget!

Myideaofshoppingispickingupmybestie,laying down the back seats of my car and goingfromthriftshoptothriftshopuntilthe back of my car is full. It’s a planned trea-surehunt–lookforwoolclothing/blankets,frames,basketsandholidaychotchkies,anyholiday.

Recycle,Repurpose,Reuse.

My grandma would cut but-tonsoffashirtthatwasonits way to the rag bag in thegarage,largedressesbecamesmalldresses,bottlecapsbecametrivets crocheted to look likegrapeclusters,jellyjars became vases or candle holders which glowed many colorsfromthetissuepaperdecoupagedontheoutside,may-onnaise jars became piggy banks andChristmascardsbecamegifttags and tree ornaments for the nextyear.

Now,whenyousay“Quilter’sGarageSale”–Oh Boy!

Fabricisjustagiven,booksandpatternsofinspiration,piecespartsandstrayblocksandnotions!I’malwayshopingtofindajarofbut-tons! I am looking forward to October’s OCQG Bear Hug Sale. Only treasures at this sale andagreatreasontospend,spend,spend!Monies at this sale will be helpful with future

speakers,workshopsandprojects.I’llbetheonewithherarmsfullofcoolstuff!

Wewillbetheretosetupat5:30pmsoyoucanstarttobringyourstuffat6pm.Therewillbenopre-shopping.Afterthegeneralmeeting,wewillbereadyforyoutoshoptillwehavetoleaveat9pm.(TherewillbesnacksbutnotSewNTell.)

Ifyoubringsomethingtoolargetofitintoacaranditdoesnotsale,youwillneedtotakeit home with you as we will not have a way to remove it from the church.

We will be weighing the fabric and selling it for $5 a pound. There is roughly 3 yards of cot-tonfabricperpoundsoit’s$1.67peryardapproximately.Greatbuytosaytheleast.Itemsother than fabric will be marked separately.

All the monies collected will go to future workshops and lecturers.

Some of our members are able to be large trees that can stand and reach for the sky. But some of us cannot be that big for many reasons.Someofusarelittletreesstartingout,animalsthatliveintheforest,theleavesthatfall,thecompostontheforestfloororeventhesmallestinsect.Nomatterwhatyour“forestjob”mayhappentobe,theyareallimportantandvitaltothesuccessofthatforest.

We ask you to be whatever part of the forest you can be. When sign ups come out for volun-teers,weaskthatyoubeapartofourOCQGlivingorganismandsignupforasmanyareasthat you feel comfortable.
