<ul><li><p>Send My Friend 2013: campaign highlights</p><p>*</p></li><li><p>57 million children around the world are out of school</p></li><li><p>5 million more girls than boys are missing out on primary school</p></li><li><p>15 million children are working instead of learning</p></li><li><p>500,000 UK school children are campaigning to end this</p></li><li><p>They are part of a global movement with millions of young campaigners</p></li><li><p>Children from two Welsh schools visited Westminster and asked, Mr Cameron, will you Send My Friend to School?</p></li><li><p>Our young campaign ambassadors represented the UK at the UNs first ever youth takeover on 12th July 2013</p></li><li><p>Children have told us about the qualities and skills that make an ideal teacher.</p><p>They believe that every child deserves a great teacher.</p></li><li><p>They have added their voices to global demands for education for all!</p></li><li><p>Pupils at Rhodes Avenue Primary met DfID Minister Lynne Featherstone MP </p></li><li><p>90 MPs went back to school to meet young campaigners in person.</p><p>99% of MPs received Send My Friend messages from their constituents!</p></li><li><p>Nearly 5,000 UK schools have taken part</p></li><li><p>We are having an impact! The UK government is now giving more than any other country in aid to education.</p><p>Sadly, the global picture doesnt look so good - many countries are giving less than last year and education aid has fallen by 200 million globally. </p><p>17 billion a year is needed to get every child in school - about four times as much aid as is currently being given. </p></li><li><p>So we cant stop campaigning yet </p><p>In the words of Malala Yousafzai:</p><p>I speak, not for myself, but for those without voice to be heard</p><p>Let us pick up our books and pens. They are our most powerful weapons.</p><p>One child, one teacher, one pen and one book can change the world. Education is the only solution.
